Nothing bad can happen. It can only good happen. 🙂

I believe this is the @fakegreekgrill.bsky.social crank theory of everything
Look, women no longer do shit for free is actually at the root of a lot of social disruption. The question is whether you think the solution is women going back to being unpaid and unprotected by their own labor.

We will boil him soon

We haven’t decided yet if this is Mustafa Kemal Ataturkey or Spencer Turkelson

I remember someone on the old site (I want to say Stancil?) calling for the creation of a France Extended Universe. This is what I’m on about.

Also when we make billions from this we invest that in a 20 movie Les Rougon-Macquart epic
The Aubrey-Maturin Saga (18 movies)
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

Cabbage is good and knowing how to cook it is good

You’re right and you should say it

Also something about this one slays me every time

This one has always had a special place in my heart.
Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

(I very much include my awkward self in this statement.)

The skeleton key for understanding academic conferences is that they are gatherings of 1000+ people, all of whom actively chose a career where they spend most of their time interacting with books and not other people.

Olivia Nuzzi can get a regular-ass office job. Graham Platner can try running for state House. Larry Summers (though I wouldn’t 100% vouch for “not criminal”) can’t be working with students. None of these things are fatal!

Sometimes people do things that are not technically criminal but are disqualifying for the job they want to have. They don’t have to be tarred and feathered but they do have to find a new line of work.

It turns out that all this did, in fact, affect how she covered RFK Jr. We’re not going to memory-hole that, especially now that people are trying to resurrect her career in this particular field.
I have fallen down the rabbithole of 'her remarks about RFK in the NYT's pundit round tables' and....!!!

PSA: you need to get your turkey out of the freezer and into the refrigerator now.
AirBnB CEO calling it “vibe revenue” just 👨‍🍳 😘

The underlying cause of every bubble - debt masquerading as financial innovation - depends on not just short financial memory & speculative neophytism, but reinventing jargon of finance, like how each generation of kids has new ways to say same things.

Picture is worth a thousand words and you couldn't pay for copy as good as this

YES

This is a testable claim and I am excited to test it.

A thing about me is that if someone tells me I’ve done a good job I immediately suspect I’ve done an awful job. I also do not like to receive criticism of any kind. Not sure what lanes that leaves other people but I guess that’s not my problem.

This isn’t the Disc Horse Bot? This is something which was posted by a human on purpose?

This is so fucking embarrassing.
