Note: This is me — I asked this question.

You’ll hear me say “yes you have” here — because Johnson was already *directly asked* about one of these instances (when the Presbyterian minister was shot in the head with a pepper ball) in one of earlier shutdown press conferences.
Q: Just last week a minister was shot directly in the face with a pepper round by a DHS agent that left his face bloodied. Are you concerned that this is a religious freedom issue?

MIKE JOHNSON: I can't comment on any of those instances. I haven't seen or heard any of those videos

In 2008, Google created an ad-powered wiki encyclopedia called Knol, seen as a "Wikipedia killer" amid its highly-publicized launch. And the Wikimedia Foundation gave an unbothered response that I quite like: "the more good free content, the better for the world." Anyway Knol instantly flopped

the media class is so cooked. people rightly complain that journalists don't know history but they also don't seem to know journalism. the idf's relationship with nypd has been reported on many times over the last decade.

And here's the real secret sauce: Larry wrote this scathing, on point observation of Fascist tendencies KNOWING his main demographic was 8-12 year old children. Larry did not hold back AND knew his audience were toy buying kids!
The comics were way more serious, with genuine social commentary (no snake people) that depicted Cobra as being more like a reactionary militia. Cobra Commander was a failed used car salesman who blamed "big government" for his problems, and decried "welfare" and "handouts" in some of his speeches.
"I wasn't making a derivative of their work, I was making a derivative of this US Government-produced work, which as we all know, cannot be copyrighted by definition"
The funniest thing that could happen is if, because they're not willing to sue the US gov over the co-opting of their IP, Nintendo/MS end up losing a copyright/trademark case when someone uses this as part of their argument
Shocking: they’re leaning in to the evocation of nerd imagery to further rally their base of reactionary antisocial gamers

Breaking: Murderer Actually Found Guilty of Murder
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Illinois deputy found guilty of murder in the shooting of Sonya Massey, a Black woman who called 911 asking for help.
"we're sending a message" Sure, and they're receiving a different one (that you don't care/are unreachable).

If you want to scare them, primary them
I cannot believe there are still people in my mentions arguing that boycotting an election because the candidates aren’t addressing your issue is a way to get them to pay attention.

Let me be very clear. It is not enough that RFK Jr. was forced to admit today that no causal relationship between Tylenol and autism has been shown.

We know that while disinformation spreads like wildfire on social media, corrections most often die on the vine.

after looking this up it's wild that jamie oliver used absolutely no korean ingredients in his "korean fried rice"

- american bbq sauce
- thai/viet sriracha
- american basmati (ben's original), boiled
- mint and coriander
- plain western cabbage

it's as korean as i am nigerian or venezuelan
I'm looking at Uncle Roger's comments and they are cursing Jamie Oliver out in hangul. Koreans are PISSED

Stagflation

The Fed Chair is describing stagflation but does not want to say the word.
Powell: "In the near term, risks to inflation are tilted to the upside, and risks to employment to the downside -- a challenging situation. There is no risk-free path for policy as we navigate this tension between our employment and inflation goals."

had a very nice conversation with my usual waitress over lunch that included me spreading the good word of the Angel's Egg screenings, and then later at work telling my lead about it, so I'm doing my part of culturing the youths

it will be very funny if I recognize multiple people at the theater

i do think vance is mostly just regurgitating the half remembered ideas of dead slaveholder extremists but also this gives off the unmistakable scent of “i’ll say whatever you hogs want me to say,” which is fitting coming from america’s premier hogman

noteworthy that rather than funding experiments into challenging conservative message domination on the local level or building between-election outreach capacity at the state level, centrist donors are throwing millions at what amount to online factional battles among a couple dozen people
it is mostly driven by this guy who represents large dollar donors.

Jesus Christ if you don’t want to live next to people who speak a different language why on earth is it incumbent on those people and not you to go somewhere else
