🎶 Thunder Boys Playlist 🎶

I'm going to start a thread of songs the kiddo loves to play over and over and over again. He definitely knows what he likes.

This is his current fave -

My population of Schizomida (parthenogenic tailless whipscorpions) are so happy in their box of dirt. As always, tending a box of dirt is such a good decision and I recommend it.

I swear the weather is really Melbourning hard lately. And I get it. It's what it does here. But 14 degrees and hail on the first day of Summer? It's a bit much.

Guessing that means Christmas will be 40 degrees with thunderstorms and fires - or 10 degrees with snow. Maybe both?

Extremely cool find at today's Geek Craft Expo: this zine from a micropress called Archive of the Odd. It's a found footage fiction anthology. I bought one for my best friend, but now I'm looking at it and I'm wishing I had bought one for myself as well.

The question was “if your husband died while cheating on you, what would do with his ashes?” I said “make his mistress eat the ashes.” my friend thought I was crazy.

I have done many things today including batch cooking a heap of food, and sending big thunder boy health emails out to people. I'm so tired I think my brain has fallen out of my skull, but I did also eat a really yummy pavlova and it made me happy. 🍨🥝🍓🍌🍫

I’m now top 5 and the 99p offer ends today apparently!
I’m a top 10 in the gay section! It’s been a while. Still time to pick up a 99p bargain if you fancy it. amzn.to/4885NwR

I’ll take this as a yes 😄

Even without kids, this movie is great entertainment. So many Easter eggs for grown-ups.

Are people talking about Zootopia 2??

Took the kids to see it today, and we loved it! Wondering if it’s getting hate for being too “woke” or if that aspect of it managed to fly over certain people’s heads so it’ll still be a blockbuster.

I know there’s a bunch of alternatives by now; We really don’t need to keep that particular kid wizard IP going any more.
Follow-up q: anyone have great alternative fantasy kids book series that ISN'T Harry Potter?

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

This thread 😂

I need a whole book about this woman and the Pope/Antichrist.
Reading letters from the Princess Liselotte of Palantine, the German sister-in-law of Louis XIV, and it's wild because she had this super informal writing style that almost sounds like modern texts

Like at one point she goes "wish to god my son didn't love holding chunks of bread like a peasant"

1. Focus on animal fibres and silk. Sheep’s wool is great, but “specialty fibres” like alpaca, cashmere, possum and mohair are even warmer. The colder the climate a creature lives in, the warmer their fibres will be, e.g. Shetland and Icelandic wools are warmer than merino. 2/...
