This thread is what we all needed tonight. 100/10 content, and it's still coming. I'll keep checking all week whenever I need to snort coffee/water/wine out my nose.
yes, hello, I would like to place an order for everyone’s funniest stories of holiday food-related family grudges / drama / chaotic incidents / lore

I feel like we need this

Gorgeous colorizations of trans history images,

and a lot of incredible stories, including many lesser-known to many (A Zapatista colonel, a "transvestite pass" issued in 1928, the Scottish nobleman who the courts ruled should inherit his baronetcy in the 60s... for example...)
Coloring the Past - Eli Erlick
Using recent breakthroughs in photo editing techniques, Eli colorizes, restores, and digitizes photos from queer and trans history. The following images are originally from 1897-1973.

also if you judge me for my reading habits i will have you know that the epic of gilgamesh was ALSO contemporary m/m romance once. why do you hate the epic of gilgamesh you uncultured swine
ive been reading a few contemporary m/m romances and enjoying them bc it feels like being lightly concussed. and/or running everything through a magical realism filter. nothing makes sense but everything feels nice

•Every $1 per hour increase in minimum wage corresponds to a 1% decrease in suicide rates

Blocking these common sense policies to protect 800 billionaires isn’t just fiscally dumb—it’s literally killing us by the hundreds of thousands

I love Christmas and normally I'd be getting so excited right about now, but this year I'm a little down because it's our first holiday since we lost Fergus. I'm hoping I can spread some cheer and regain a little spirit myself by raising some funds for our local shelter! givebutter.com/n5l31M

Today was exhausting.

Woke up to find water shut off because of yet another water main break. It was fixed a few hours later.

Then: ANOTHER water main break. Water came back on; I thought it was fixed.

7 pm email: We have to shut off water overnight to fix the leak.

7:47 pm: lol, it's fixed!

Did you try your best today?

If yes, awesome!

If no, be kind to yourself. Try again tomorrow. That's what it's for.

Chris makes a fantastic point here! I'm a better editor than I was when I started at Paizo in 2023 because I have incredibly talented colleagues and I'm constantly learning from them.

Thank you to Patrick, Avi, Simone, Ianara, Sol, Priscilla, Felix, and Zac!

I love being an editor, but I'm only ever as good as those I've studied under and those that continue to edit my own work.

Editing is such an important component of the writing process and is often overlooked. But let it be known my work would be WAY worse without editors.
By the way, it's National Editor Appreciation Day.

Nobody ever reads a great article and thinks, "Dang, that was some tight editing." But editing is a big part of how it got to be great.

So writers, if you've ever worked with a good editor, shout 'em out.

The best editor I know is without a doubt Paizo's senior editor Ianara Natividad. She has an eagle eye for rules language, structure, grammar, and house style. She's not a social media person, but she is an essential member of our team. Shout out to her!

Zohran Mamdani has called for a boycott of Starbucks until the company can bargain a fair contract with its striking workers. We joined members of the mayor-elect's team on the Starbucks picket line in NYC.

They say the best opportunity comes once in a lifetime, and for some things that's true. But more often success leaves a trail of failures in its wake. Do not resign yourself to defeat because you missed a chance. Go out and make more of them.

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

This little baby is with @rocketcatrescue.bsky.social and is in the same serious situation as little Zack was. She needs to see an ER vet immediately, and Rocket Cat could use donations to make sure they can cover every avenue of care for her possible. Please consider helping them try to save her.
Got an emergency call from my old boss back at Milo’s Sanctuary about a kitten with dwarfism that was suffering from severe constipation and was declining. I picked her up and I’ll be taking her down to Michele in a few days so for now- trying to make a kitten poop.
