In late July, Paul Ingrassia, the White House liaison for the Department of Homeland Security, arrived at a Ritz-Carlton in Orlando with a lower-ranking female colleague and others from their department. When the group reached the front desk, the woman learned she didn’t have a hotel room.

Ingrassia then informed her that she would be staying with him, according to five administration officials familiar with the episode. Eventually the woman discovered that Ingrassia had arranged ahead of time to have her hotel room canceled so she would have to stay with him, three of those officials said.

This is why we say ‘UPPER CASE’ and ‘lower case.’

moments ago, the group of protesters marched across the street against objections from police and have occupied the fortified area next to the detention center.

earlier this morning, cook county sheriff’s deputies kicked me and a couple other reporters who were standing by ourselves off a public sidewalk because it wasn’t “free speech” hours yet or something idk.

a different vibe here today than in recent weeks.

after weeks of feds brutalizing and arresting protesters, local and state police have heavily fortified the area with concrete barricades.

the broadview mayor last week signed an order limited protests to designated areas from 9 am to 6 pm.

Around 100-150 people singing and playing instruments on the lawn here. Extremely chill.

Across the driveway, a large number of state troopers and sheriff's officers have set up a tent, arrest wagons, a staging area.

Happening now: we're at the Broadview ICE facility outside Chicago.

CCSO + Broadview police are telling protesters + press they can't stand on the west side of 25th Street for any reason.

We asked what the precise public safety issue is. They just said they're anticipating cars coming through.
