There's a lot of intersecting factors, but I think the BIG one is that people in the US aren't guaranteed healthcare, so influencers et al take advantage of people's very reasonable anxieties and sell us on keeping ourselves "healthy" when they KNOW they can't promise that.
There's something tickling the back of my mind about the "clean eating"/minimally processed food influencers and how the cheapest foods are shelf stable foods and how much damage they've done to how we think about how eating cheaply is eating "badly".

There really seems to be a lot of kayfabe happening right now. Trump is pretending to de-escalate to placate Dems so they don't demand reform, and Dems are making up fake reforms so they can pretend like they made changes while they vote to fund DHS.

I am happy for people in Maine if this is true. ALSO, this suggests that the administration is unleashing ICE in blue cities and states as punishment for political reasons. Collins is up for re-election and they need her to keep their control of the Senate. This is GROTESQUE.
