I became a patient at the local dental hygienist school and my training cleaning triggered a need for a root canal. As the instructor was filling in my canal'd tooth, I enlightened him to the fun of collagen disorders and learned that Ehlers Danlos is not taught in their curriculum. 1/2

Four of my partners are EDS patients. No, I don't know why I'm drawn to them.

But oh my dear doctors, let me tell you that yes, if someone tells you they have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, you drop everything and triple-check literally everything you know against this unique human standing before you.
Dear Medical Providers:

EDS patients are built different. Not only was my tooth being pounded into its socket according to the new dentist, it drifted into a cross-bite position to try to escape.

It should correct with the new crown and the fixes, but...ELEVEN MONTHS. Be so for real now...

The U.S. has spent billions and billions and decades destabilizing the world for its own benefit; it’s only fair a decently paying part time job in Bangladesh is “American Political Shitposter.”

The true tragedy of America's obsession with capitalism is that engagement (which makes money) is seen as "where the vast majority of Americans actually are" whereas people who quietly want their politicians to work for them are basically invisible.

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

If you’re a journalist who’s still on Twitter, from now on in your writing you have to replace “the American people want” with “troll bots in Eastern Europe demand”

Being there makes your judgment suspect. I don’t care how savvy you think you are, you’re marinating in a disinformation campaign.

thinking about how my parents escaped vietnam, where the CIA destabilized my family's home country by spreading misinformation, and they landed in the united states, which is now getting destabilized bc someone in vietnam is spreading misinformation
Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

I didn't see any trans people in my high school. But my high school was a pressure-cooker of conformity for cis straight white people, one that crushed me beneath its weight for being neuroatypical.

I didn't see trans folk. But a lot of people didn't notice my existence, either. And we were there.
Today is the Transgender Day of Remembrance. Trans people have literally always been here; every time I see someone sneering "oh but there were no trans people when I was in high school," well. I dated a trans girl in high school, and was close friends with a trans guy.

The thing nobody mentions about John Lennon is that he honestly had a pretty mediocre singing voice.

Good thing the tunes were spectacular.

Most of the folks I knew who needed a degree in writing were actually looking for some outside authority (i.e., a college) to give them permission to be An Artist. And getting the diploma didn't do that.

If you're an artist, go art. The only permission that counts is yours.
Morning, bitches!

In 15 years of hiring for creative roles for video games, I never once gave a shit about the applicants degree or schooling — and no one hiring with me did, either.

Being in debt for the rest of your life for a degree in computer games or fine arts is a terrible investment.

My top 3 can't-miss movie clichés:

1) The music swells as the hero finally loses all those nagging doubts and becomes the person they were truly meant to be

2) The happily-married couple has difficulties but never once doubt their love/commitment to each other

3)Horror movie leads do smart things

I have no idea why there's been such a drastic spike in people stealing books in a series that has sold *checks* one boxset and zero individual books all month long but lolsob that could stop any day now, that'd be great.

And everyone is so surprised that I did not continue it. 🙃

I wish there was a way for famous people to leave reasonable, dissenting comments on posts without sending flocks of haters over to harass the person they're interacting with

Like, they could just disagree as a person in the moment, wouldn't that be nice?

I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

And billionaires will ensure that this common knowledge - "taxing really rich people will make things better and not destroy people" - is hotly-debated and ultimately made to feel like some crazy radical opinion.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:

Curious to see whether the Republicans' long-running "Let's move the goalpost towards scumland" technique will be successful when it comes to pedophilia
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."
