Can we agree that Your Party is a nice sentiment and also a really really shit name for a political party

Your Party just voted to become a Two Ronnies sketch.
"Hi, I'm from the Labour party",
"Not interested. I'm voting for your party.",
"Excellent, what made you support us?",
"No, I'm voting for your party."
Oh god. Your Party voted to call themselves “Your Party”. Such is the level of original thinking in the room.

After yesterday's chaos, Your Party has

a) Voted for collective leadership.
b) Voted to ALLOW dual membership.

Yesterday's exclusions/expulsion letters were totally unnecessary.

Peak farce is spending so much time talking about the implied size of the 'black hole' while spending 0 time discussing whether the rules that dictate that policy measures react mechanically to that number are the right ones.

Given how piss poor the OBR's forecasting has been in the past (or as they put it, "have tended to be somewhat pessimistic in the near-term and optimistic in the medium term") you can hardly call someone a liar for assuming they'll be overly optimistic again.
How the right-wing newspapers still manage to dictate BBC coverage.

Almost all of the Beeb's big post-Budget interview with the Chancellor devoted to asking whether she is a liar.

Next to nothing on any of the big measures announced this week

I'm not saying the leader of the Conservative party's approach to politics is infantile, but she's just defended her latest attack on the Chancellor by saying "she started it"

The British housing market is the one political issue where everyone knows what the problem is - politically motivated asset inflation - and nobody is willing to even think about the solution - politically motivated asset deflation.
The only *real* solution is for the BoE to engineer a price crash.
All of this “woe is me my house is now really expensive and so a tax is unfair” stuff completely negates to acknowledge the implicit fact that the house owner has made an insane profit by doing absolutely nothing
Mumsnet is already on the case.

This is going to mean nothing to anybody who hasn't played #CloverPit, but I'm going to have to sacrifice several million points in order to get my final 666. :/

On Truss & Kwarteng in ‘22. Allister Heath, Telegraph: “the best budget I have ever heard a British chancellor deliver". Alex Brummer, Mail: “a genuine Tory package elbowing to one side the Treasury's fiscal conservatism".
These men will now be paid actual money for their analysis of today’s budget.

Please keep leaking market sensitive information to me, says journalist, it's in the national interest.
Complaining from the Speaker's chair about briefing Budget measures is getting very tired, very quickly. There's a reason this stuff is briefed. Some of it is narrow political interest. But it's also in the national interest- it's to prepare the markets.

Best understood, Labour's attack on juries, as a further lurch towards authoritarianism. Who, now, will stand in the way of a State that wants to imprison its opponents?

When looking at how 'the public' receive the budget it is worth remembering about 50% actively dislike the govt and will be strongly against almost anything it does. This is a problem made worse by fragmenting vote intentions where govt has the direct support of a relatively small group of voters.

Labour's plan for a levy on foreign student fees makes no sense, unless it's to appease racists who don't like foreign students, or populists who believe in the lump of student capacity fallacy, that somehow they displace domestic students out of education.
