Cycling to work, school & play should be quick and convenient and not put you in mortal danger. Here will be noise about this healthy transport choice.
Lime e-bikes transformed cycling in Islington. It’s now common to see many more people cycling & greater diversity of riders’ age, gender & ethnicity. Lots of physical activity. It’d be detrimental to public health to bin Lime e-bikes over parking concerns. www.islingtontribune.co.uk/article/lime...

Let alone their future driving permissions…

Why is road crime treated differently to other crime? IMO complacency and acceptance of road danger as inevitable have dulled accountability. Strategy isn’t enough — we need a fundamental root & branch cultural reset.

Active travel campaigners, we can take two things away from this:
1. It works and it's worth it
2. We must think and plan in *decades*
“Copenhagen reported that 62% of its residents are now commuting to work or school by bike — an increase from 52% in 2015 & 36% in 2012, when the City Council launched a 14-year-plan to improve the quality, safety & comfort of cycling.”

If you kill as a motorist, it‘s practically guaranteed you’ll be given more compassion than the victim.

If that life you took was as a result of you choosing to break the law, then “Dangerous Driving” should be mandatory, with no prospect of that charge being reduced.

In 2024, more than 1,600 people died on UK roads. Yet a major new road safety strategy has passed largely unnoticed. This reflects media acceptance of road danger and a societal complacency—an “it won’t happen to me” mindset. Sadly, it can, and by then it is too late. How do we change this?

Join us for a friendly bike ride to explore the local area, keep active, build cycling confidence and have fun.
We usually cycle about 5-6 miles (2hrs) and always have a longer stop at a café when we reach halfway.

The Dutch will double intercity bike routes in the next 5 years, from 1100 to 2300km.

Every city has local routes: Utrecht, for example, has 420km of separated bike lanes & bike streets. 𝘿𝙤𝙤𝙧𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙨𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙨 allow people to safety go by bike throughout NL.

Great to see the Streatham Hill cycle lanes being built.

The A23 here has a terrible safety record. Tragically, 3 people have been killed in the area. There've been over 70 collisions in last 3 yrs.

This scheme will make it safer for everyone with new bike lanes & pedestrian crossings.

Critically, we also need the public to support actions that enable older people to live great lives without having to drive for when they fail the eye tests. So the public need to get onboard with no pavement parking, pedestrian priority, denser housing, fewer out-of-town shopping centres, etc etc
