I think one of the biggest reasons it’s happening here is that many people still believe it can’t happen here.
One theme here is the speed of American institutional collapse.
“It took Erdoğan 15 years to do what Trump did in 100 days. If [Americans] do not accept the fact that this is a long game, and it will be brutal, I think you won’t have the patience and stamina to bear it.”
We asked activists from authoritarian regimes what they wish they’d known sooner. Here’s what they said www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

In general, pretty much all video game adjacent IP from the 1990s is an utter disaster today rights wise. It's why GOG has to hire private detectives to figure out who even is the IP holder for a lot of games. The constant cycle of studio closures and mergers created a real mess.

notice the general mood of the timeline? how everyone is in a good mood and there’s a lot less misery and dooming? how there’s a lot of “we’re going to beat these assholes”?

anyway that’s why these events are important

it sounds far-fetched but how else do you explain a guy living this long on high fructose corn syrup and speed
This was always the funniest conspiracy theory to me — that there are MRI machine-like devices that can cure all known illnesses in seconds, but the government has been hiding them — and Trump just posted an AI generated video of himself announcing they're real. We're cooked!
Trump tonight appears to have pushed the false "medbed" conspiracy theory, which has spread in the far-right internet over the years. www.yahoo.com/news/qanon-c...

At this point, I’m convinced even people from the distant past have heard of her. King Tut living 3,000 years ago somehow anachronistically knows who she is. Her fame has broken causality.

CHOTINER: So. Good to see you again.

CHOTINER'S CHILDHOOD BULLY: Is it?

CHOTINER: No.

CHOTINER'S CHILDHOOD BULLY: So how's this work? You ask a bunch of dumb questions and try'n make me look stupid?

CHOTINER: Basically.

CHOTINER'S CHILDHOOD BULLY: Okay, let's DO this, Chotinerd.

Truth. We may need concerted mythmaking on the left to establish a wide social safety-net misleadingly posed as a personal portfolio of earned benefits.

Maybe set up a website, gamify it with made up numbers whose only purpose is to bind participants to the continued existence of the system.
Best I can tell the only durable policies are the ones you convince Americans they deserve by the sweat of their brow even when that's not actually how any of this works. (Medicare, Social Security). Maybe we should reframe immigration as "Americans deserve access to foreign labor".

Consistent with other recent work in cultural evolution, there's also strong evidence of an inverse-U relationship between player community size and behavioral diversity. The most diverse era in the game was characterized by many small groups, versus the modern game.

The ability to grant, change, and restrict player agency offers a unique space in which to create and send a message. Video games are clearly art in the sense that they contain other art, but they also offer a unique (and often unexplored) new space in which to communicate ideas.

I have never spoken to @pjvphotography.bsky.social, least of all to criticize his hiking decisions.

All the same, I feel chastened by this overwhelming, incontrovertible evidence of his correctness. So powerful that I admit defeat in an argument I never conceived of.
"Pat, why do you carry that ridiculous 600mm lens on long hikes?"

Buddy, I can see mountains reflected in the eyes of a trailside pika.
