A big part is initial vitamin D levels, christ, no need for pseudoscience. Lack of Vitamin D can cause or exacerbate depression. It's why night shifters who already have messed up Vitamin D levels get hit with Seasonal Depression harder and more often than day shifters. It isn't really a mystery.
genuinely curious about the charts of people who struggle more with seasonal depression vs others. lack of saturnian influence and lots of solar influence? the sun transiting their 4H/8H/12H during the winter months? it could be so many things
