In 2023 I became obsessed with videos of dads in cargo shortswaiting in parking lots during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. So when she came to town, I grabbed a camera and headed down to talk to them. I thought it'd be funny. It turned out to be something else entirely.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

We strongly advise against trying any funny business here at the sanctuary because our security guards Bert and Ernie keep a very close eye on everything.

I just want to say for the record that when the history books are written centuries from now, I believe the election of Donald Trump in a free and fair election in 2024 will go down as one of the most senseless and self-destructive own goals in human history

Amy Klobuchar was just reelected to a 6-year term in 2024.

We certainly DO need to think about the 2030 primary.

BUT ALSO we need to get her ear now.

She needs to hear from us every day about how we want her to vote, & what we value.

I will spread this far and wide because I find it amazing and want more people to discover the joy: You can get a burger + beer @ the Blue Door, then walk/bike/ride a couple blocks to the Riverview for a movie, fresh buttered popcorn, and an ice cold water for a full night right around $30 (!!!!!)
I was about to post this and then remembered I've already said it...but you know what, it bears repeating

A phenomenal cheeseburger, $5 on Monday, might be the best deal in town
IDK who needs to hear this but it's $5 cheeseburger night at Blue Door in Longfellow

In honour of Rob Reiner, have David Moore's thread on the best sword fight in movie history and exactly how nerdy it is.
As you may know, I have stopped using Twitter, and have decided to reproduce some of my more memorable threads here for posterity. Here’s one I hold wrote after a particularly engaging swordfighting lesson.

Buckle up, swordfighting fans, because I *have* studied my Agrippa!

If you haven't watched this speech from The American President before.. you should.

I had it pinned for four years on my Twitter account during Trump's first administration, and it's for good reason.

A crazy streak of not just hits but movies that are permanently woven into the culture. Turn it to 11. Inconceivable. I’ll have what she’s having. Wanna see a dead body?

In the hands of a lesser director…
The run that Rob Reiner went on between 1984 and 1992 is one of the most amazing hot streaks any director has ever had. Legendary stuff

But ... Bohemian Rhapsody?
The year is 2382. All physical and digital media was lost in a great cataclysm that humanity has gradually rebuilt itself from. The village gathers for festivities and drinks. A travelling musician plays a song passed down in folk tradition for centuries. It is called the YMCA. Everyone joins in

Opening weekend for Return of the King. The crowd reaction to so much of it was an amazing experience in collective awe and joy. But I'll never forget the swelling music and beauty of the beacons of Gondor scene.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.
