God dammit, it’s not about the training! For fuck’s sake.
Chris Murphy: "The amount of training that's given to an ICE officer has been cut in half by this administration. The number of days of training they get are 47. You know why they get 47 days? As an homage to the vanity of POTUS. No wonder the number of violent incidents are going through the roof."

There are no rules, they don’t actually care about respect, decorum, bipartisanship or debate, and only pretend to do so to browbeat you into submission. Nothing is going to change until more people realise that and respond accordingly; including to the media and politicians who have failed them.

ICE Is Modeling Its Brutality After The IDF | Defector
Call it recency bias, personal interest, or perhaps just a general concern for society’s trajectory right now, but as I followed Wednesday’s news of an ICE agent killing 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good ...

When I talk about the NYT as a chronicle of power without any true moral center, this is the kind of shit I mean
This bizarre and dangerous claim violates literally every section of our Constitution, which was built by geniuses explicitly to limit individual power.

Those entrusted with enforcing our Constitution have a duty to every Conservative and Liberal American. A duty to act. Now.

Love how the people responsible for making so many men entirely unfuckable and for making the world a place people are hesitant to want to bring a child into (or even just give birth in) are the ones constantly crying about birth rates.
👀 Marriage “bootcamp,” huge tax breaks for couples with kids, capping alimony, discouraging online dating…

A WaPo exclusive, we got the final draft of the Heritage Foundation’s “Manhattan Project” for more babies.

Plus a previous draft with scrapped ideas, which you’ll want to see.

I think it's pretty clear that they want to provoke confrontation, and they want ICE agents to feel tense, frightened, and threatened—antagonistic to the public, grateful and loyal to the administration that "protects" them. They want excuses for violence, and a militia eager to deploy it.
Noem: "People need to stop using their vehicles as weapons ... it's clear that it's being coordinated. People are being trained"

I’d be more specific, in fact: we are seeing different FORMS of force shown when ICE is acting in “coming after a presumed immigrant” mode vs “freaking out at any show of resistance or protest” mode.

Neither is more justifiable than the other necessarily.
i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all

losing my mind at the "she should have followed directions" people

really? really? you're cool with "if you don't follow directions, they get to kill you"? that seems like a good state of affairs to you? that seems like how law enforcement ought to work: instant obeisance or death?

ICE’s public violence should be a reminder that they commit brutal acts in private facilities too.

Every report has been horrific and we only have the smallest glimpse into the horrors.
2025 was ICE’s deadliest year in two decades. Here are the 32 people who died in custody
The deaths came as the Trump administration ramped up immigration enforcement, detaining a record number of people

a while ago I shocked a bunch of people who had recently moved to DC by showing them photographs of what downtown looked like post-1/6
It IS personal for those of us who live here. I work across the street from the WH and for the past couple of weeks have been watching the security infrastructure go up around Lafayette Square. It’s grim.
And Washington, DC, our democracy's citadel, prepares for a siege. As Ellie Silverman writes in @washingtonpost.com, "To those who live and work in the District, this national crisis [is] personal."

A frightening state of affairs for America. (7/7) www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...
