I've always wondered if progressive-slanted local TV news could succeed, but we've never known because local TV station owners don't want to find out
This guy is one of a kind. If you don't have him on your radar you should fix that. Instead of gazing with wonder at the denialism five years later, he's warning the polity. Possibly the most valuable news anchor in the country. Kyle Klark at 9News Denver.
COMMENTARY: It seems an increasing number of Americans, including elected leaders and journalists, are afraid to tell the truth about what happened on January 6. That's dangerous.

Better yet, disestablish all of DHS, and undo the nightmarish idiocies that we created in a panic 25 years ago. Reestablish the INS, get rid of ODNI, fix the damage from the Patriot Act, etc.
For the love of all that is decent and holy: abolish ICE

A tribute to how fucking stupid Bari Weiss is that her iteration of the CBS evening news instantly became a laughably partisan joke, when the obvious better strategy was to play it straight for at least a few months and keep it as a legit-looking sleeper cell to activate before the election.

If you are a foreign president who commits crimes overseas, America will come get you, arrest you, and lock you up.

But if you are a US president who commits crimes here in the United States, America will give you immunity from prosecution, reelect you, and bribe you with billions of dollars.

The thing I will remember most about 2025 is that Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Russell Vought took live-saving medicine and food away from hundreds of thousands of sick and starving children, and this did not change the way the media and society in general regarded them in any significant way.

Why have Americans become so mean, sad, and alienated? The answer is simple, @nytdavidbrooks argues. People no longer grow up learning how to be decent to one another: bit.ly/4qskLny

Bari Weiss’ two accomplishments so far are hosting an interview that she desperately wanted people to watch (but they didn’t) and trying to spike a news story that she desperately wanted nobody to watch (but they did)

Years ago the Supreme Court ruled that anyone under age 18 could have a legally mandated bedtime as anyone under the age of 18 is a child.

So this weekend, as the press talks about these "young women" in the files, ask yourselves "Could they have a bedtime?"

Because THEY WERE FUCKING CHILDREN!

I’m convinced the stress and constant annoyance of living in an economy where every corporation is constantly trying to screw you over is a big part of why people are unhappy with the economy, the government and status quo in general.

One way that the reaction to Rob Reiner's murder mirrors Charlie Kirk's is that the best way to eulogize each of them is to quote their words, and in both cases, doing so pisses off conservatives.
Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."

Now look at CBS. Installing Bari Weiss to run a news division isn’t a "pivot to the center." It is a deliberate hollowing out.

Take a legacy institution, gut its standards, wear its skin like a suit. They don’t want CBS's credibility; they want to destroy the idea that credible news exists at all.

Growing up a trash ass part of the Midwest, a highlight of everyone’s year was going to the county fair and paying $5 to take three swings at an old Mercury Cougar with a baseball bat or a sledgehammer. I believe the fire department raised about half their budget that way.

Just a thought.
