if you vote for another cent for this you are a collaborator. this is a litmus test for every politician for the rest of my life
Yesterday, these incompetent fucks were just going door-to-door in a neighborhood near my house at 8:30 in the morning. School buses were driving through trying to pick up kids, people were out walking their dogs, and people were taking out their trash cans.

“The entire operation is becoming slower and more resource-intensive. There is good reason to believe that more immigrants are with their families tonight because of ICE Watch.”
For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

“Trump invaded Venezuela, kidnapped its president, stole a bunch of its oil, sold it, and stashed the money in banks in Qatar” is a stone-cold CLASSIC of this genre
The stuff in the GOP bill is some of the clearest ever examples of "if you explain what Republicans are doing in straightforward factual terms an otherwise under-informed normie will think you have entirely lost your mind and can't be trusted"

the funny thing about these lectures, which i would love to give this person a bullhorn to yell in minneapolis right now, is that a harris administration would have kept increasing funding for ICE despite the certainty a right wing president was eventually going to inherit it. we tied our own noose

I often hear “if you’re not ready to have a disabled kid, you’re not ready to have a kid,” & YES. But what I think people tend to forget is that your kid can become disabled at any time, including as a grown adult, & maybe they’ll be lucky enough to have a committed partner/friends/community to help

I genuinely don't understood how America took the emoluments clause -- the common-sense bar on a president using his powers to line his own pockets, a law children can understand -- and just said, nah, that doesn't apply for our Very Special Boy.
He’s turned the presidency into the world’s largest ATM machine.

Any elected Democrat not fully committed to resistance at this point is a MAGA collaborator. So yes, they gotta go. History is screaming at us from the grave.
We have to get rid of Schumer and Jeffries.

This is about saving our country now.

They have to go.

Fraud is a serious crime that merits laying siege to an entire city and collectively punishing every immigrant from Somalia.

It's also a crime for which you can be pardoned and relieved of compensating your victims, so long as some of the money you stole finds its way to the president.

It's striking that the federal line is now simply that there is no justifiable or legal means of resistance, defense, or protest, against ICE period. That seems to me like a change/escalation (though I know it's not unprecedented). Either assist ICE or comply with them, or be attacked and slandered.
The actual story is that a family of American citizens trying to evacuate from a neighborhood that ICE had made unsafe, and then ICE tossed munitions into the car, causing three kids to be hospitalized and a six month old to stop breathing. DHS called the family “radical agitators”

What I’ve learned about American politics the last decade is there is an annoyingly sizable population that does not actually believe in anything and simply imprints on the latest thing they heard on the radio like a duckling

It’ll be dangerously cold this weekend in the Twin Cities. Windchills will reach -20°. With how violently ICE is grabbing people, they might not be dressed for the weather, especially if ICE keeps dumping people miles from their home or car without their phone. Frostbite hits quickly at these temps.

An underrated factor in "why don't people in wealthy societies have more kids" is changing societal norms that now expect even older kids to be chaperoned by an adult any time they are in public, and to be chauffeured by a parent as their only means of transportation
Older generations spent a lot less time parenting. Millennial dads spend nearly as much time parenting as Boomer moms did. Millennial and Gen X moms way more.
