"this is not who we are" is 90% of the time a normative statement of aspiration, it's not an empirical claim of "these events have never taken place in this country before". one of the most obnoxious genres of "actually..." is reacting like it's the latter when it's clearly the former.

🚨WHOA. The El Paso Medical Examiner says it will rule the death of a 55-year-old Cuban man at ICE's "Camp East Montana" tent camp as a homicide.

He was allegedly choked to death by a guard during a "struggle" after he refused to enter a housing unit without his medications.

stop calling the protestors or the people of Minneapolis volatile or violent. their behavior has been nothing of the sort. these are people a who are being attacked in their homes and streets while the cowards in the government leave them to fend for themselves, and then condemn them when they do.

from what I’ve seen the city council’s “owendoff caucus”, if you will, is ryan, clark, and zimmerman. I am positive there’s more to find here if you start pulling on the right threads
been saying for a while that the connections between these insane conservatives and the city council moderates was newsworthy and then brian ownendoff just sits down in front of a mercury reporter and lays it out in plan sight

ICE agents are making a habit of shooting tear gas at demonstrators who object to their kidnapping and murdering.

Please consult this thread regarding how you can safely, swiftly extinguish tear gas canisters.

crimethinc.com/RiotMunitions
You can extinguish tear gas canisters!

Wearing gloves, submerge the canister in a wide-mouthed water jug containing baking soda, dish soap, and/or vegetable oil—3 tablespoons of each per liter of water.

Cover the top with one hand, just enough to keep the gas from getting out, and shake the jug.

This is why cross checking with public property tax and voter registration databases are important. :)
I'm not trying to protect ICE workers but I will say as someone who interacts with government worker databases with their home address that are wront A LOT of the time. Like 1 in 4 or 5. So please don't assume the home address data is accurate.

The war against the states by federal forces is expanding at light speed now.

The federal government is at war against the free citizens and states of the union.
BREAKING: Donald Trump says his administration is halting all "payments to sanctuary cities or states having sanctuary cities."

That would mean hurting millions of Americans by illegally stopping the flow of billions of federal dollars.

When we say that surveillance is a threat to the First Amendment because it makes it so easy for police to intimidate or enact retribution on someone based on their politics--this is exactly what we mean. This is state repression done via data collection.

A lot of these folks traffic in plausible respectability, so it’s helpful to have clear evidence of who they are.

I always say good politicians know whose opinions to value most. I hope councilors take these texts into account when making that judgment.

The animating force at the heart of US conservatism currently is incandescent rage at the mere idea of women's autonomy and independence. An image of a smiling woman who looks insufficiently deferential for their tastes riles them up enough to tear up the social contract.
this is all it’s really about for them. Not domestic policy, not “economic anxiety”, just an endless desire to punish stand-ins for the Mommy who forced them take a bath, even if it tanks their own quality of life.
