AI ran into a brick wall trying to control smart home devices this year, which feels like the canary in the coal mine for a lot of things. Excellent @jp2e.bsky.social dive into why and what comes next www.theverge.com/tech/845958/...

"The emails do not indicate any wrongdoing"
Astonishing levels of benefit of the doubt going on here to say an email to a convicted sex-trafficker asking for "inappropriate friends" doesn't indicate any wrongdoing. It bloody well does.

What are the chances the White House demands that the video gets hash-matched for designation as terrorist content, for enforced takedowns wherever it appears.
Yes this is how my brain works.
Americans having to bootleg broadcast news about our government’s offshored concentration camp is a level of fascism that immediately precedes democratic societies dropping leaflets on us from weather balloons.
And now someone has uploaded a version that wasn't filmed off a TV.

There's also the torrent link there, which is probably the fastest way to download the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT if you want to save the file locally to your computer.

Good grief: a genuine, senior Reform candidate saying we should force Jews and Muslims to commit blasphamy to 'prove their sincerity to Christians'.

This is just straight up racism and the fact Reform can't disown him says everything.

But when it does surface, suspect it may be light on detail

I just don't think you can learn things about actual people without involving actual people.
Pleased to see this piece. Personally, I find these uses of synthetic data v concerning and I find the traction and endorsements that this work has to be quite baffling, esp given the well-storied role of algorithmic targeting in undermining democracy

The DoJ made it easy to download everything that they released, which any experienced journalist does with document dumps by default (even if they don’t make it easy).

So deleting without explanation is just dumb. It’s never going to work. It’s going to directly draw attention to what you delete.

The problem with Streeting (aside from all the other problems with Streeting) is that he appears to want to be PM purely for the fact of being PM as a win & of in itself. It’s hard to detect any kind of sincere ideology, or even ideas really, other than whatever he thinks will get him there.
I was talking to a Labour MP the other day who said it would be easier to get behind Wes if he could just mask his ambition a little bit...
