The right uses the fact that Trump won the election to manufacture support for everything he's doing. Don't buy that framing. Even a vote for "mass deportations" is not the same as Britt's stance ("ICE is gonna have to kill some protestors to deport every unauthorized migrant, whaddya gonna do?")

It's nothing everyone doesn't already know, but ICE/CBP guys know they can do whatever they want. They're the absolute dregs of the Violence Worker Community, not trained for anything like what they're doing, out of their depth, all that. But it starts with them knowing they won't face consequences.

Five years ago, more than 2,000 people—whipped into an angry frenzy by Donald Trump—attempted to violently overthrow our government.

They assaulted police officers.

They looted and destroyed.

Some threatened to kill members of Congress (and the VP).

Trump pardoned every single one of them. (1/2)

I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

A note on the Venezuela attack.

When I began thinking about joining the military, in the lead up to Iraq in 2003, I thought that even in the worse case scenario, Iraq would be better off without a dictator.

Wow, that pic of Obama et al in the situation room really broke a lot of these people. Amazing.
the photographer was definitely like, "ok everybody, look tough!" but we know they're all just reading tweets with their arms crossed in a country club dining room divided up by bedsheets tacked to the beams

No discussion of democracy. No discussion of elections. Plenty of talk by Trump about running the country and taking the oil. Let’s not forget to thank John Roberts for his role in immunizing this international criminal.

A side story is there’s a ton of insider trading on these prediction markets. New accounts making hundreds of thousands on their first and only trade, that maduro would be ousted. Seems like insider trading is legal if not encouraged on these platforms

Trump said the US will “run” Venezuela and take over its oil assets. He also threatened Cuba, Iran, and others.

There’s always money for war, regime change, and rebuilding another country’s oil industry, but somehow no money to help Americans afford health care, housing, or food.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

A huge part of USPS' "loss" is the bullshit requirement that they fully fund pensions for the next 50 years. A GOP Congress passed that back in the Bush admin.
They have to fully fund pensions for people who haven't even been born yet.
