Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest
Honestly insane they didn't brief the gang of eight until it was underway

babe wake up, they're doing insider trading on war crimes
“What appears to be a newly created account appeared to invest $30,000 Friday in Maduro's exit. After Maduro went into custody Saturday morning, that same investor netted $436,759.61.”
Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.

For those of you who don't speak Evangelical, she's talking about Trump like Evangelicals talk about Jesus. It's cult shit.
Rep. Sheri Biggs: "I'm just grateful for President Trump. The first thing I thought about this morning when I became aware early of the transactions, I was just very grateful that President Trump was our chief and that he was in control and making sure that this was carried out to precision."

@markwarner.bsky.social @kaine.senate.gov @gene4va.bsky.social I don't know about everyone else, but I'd really like the executives of any U.S. companies that are going to be involved in the theft of Venezuelan oil to have to answer some questions under oath. Who knew what and when?

Not an original thought at all but it is truly astonishing how many people just invented the version of Trump they wanted in their brains and voted for that instead of like...the actual guy who campaigned to be President

So the whole "separation of powers" thing has a failure state that we didn't really learn about in civics class: Everyone is a sycophant who wants the leader of the executive branch to be a god-king even as his faculties are visibly decaying

Remember how appalled we all were in 2022 when Russia completely unprovoked attacked Ukraine? That is what we’re doing tonight with Venezuela. We are the bad guys here. Everyone who supports this is supporting unprovoked murder. Fuck every last one of them

Everyone in DoD who participated in planning and executing this needs to face charges

Yes I know the scope/scale of what I'm saying; either laws mean things or they don't
Disgusting violation of basic sovereignty and I hope everyone who hedges even one bit on this has their careers ruined in the end

As a person of interest in January 6th and a believer in QAnon, MTG has never demonstrated a commitment to democracy. She’s only ever shown a willingness to do whatever it takes to attain and hold power. That fascist tendency is the last thing a pro-democracy coalition needs.
The pro-democracy movement needs to include factions which we disagree with vehemently on all other matters.

That’s the point of a pro-democracy movement—we aren’t aligned on the direction of our society, but we all agree we should have a right to contest it freely and fairly.

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Along with the racist fake grievance of "apologizing for being white," there's also the fact that a bunch of white folks seem to believe (and/or are willing to suggest) that even acknowledging systemic advantages they get for being white is the equivalent of being "forced to apologize."
Next time someone says they don’t have to apologize for being white anymore, ask them to tell about the most recent time they were forced to apologize for being white and who made them do it.

(Hot Take TM) Providing mutual aid as part of campaign work is a good thing that candidates should do more.
🧵 Our mutual aid hub has been a HUGE draw for our immense volunteer base, many of whom have never wanted to be involved politics before now.

This model isn’t just about the immediate impacts: It’s about showing our values, building a community, and reaching voters — without selling our soul!
Turning campaigns into mutual aid hubs isn’t good for campaigns or mutual aid! Your campaign manager should be entirely too busy to schlep around 5600 tampons!
