AP on Trump now, and Biden in June 2022.

For Trump, declining to 36 percent approval is “good news.”

For Biden, holding steady at 41% is “a source of concern.”

Lots of indicators of Republicans who aren’t full on 100% MAGA true believers realizing that next year is gonna be a bloodbath for them and battening down the hatches. Them losing ground on eliminating the filibuster was one, redistricting falling on its face in Kansas and Indiana is another.
Indiana Republicans telling the regime to pound sand should really be seen as a disaster for the regime. A year ago there wasn't a Republican in the country who wouldn't immediately kiss the the ring.

Anyway, a very good FOIA to file this morning would be for all emails and calls received in the last 24 hours by the immigration “judge” who issued the order.

WOW; a DEEPLY corrupt move by the immigration courts; clear collaboration with Trump admin officials to produce a specific result with zero notice to the party and ALSO in a situation where the judge facially lacks jurisdiction; the judge had denied a motion to reopen and the case is on appeal.
Judge Xinis ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s release in part bc ICE could not produce a final “order of removal” to deport him. So last night, they went out and got an immigration judge to issue one.

Now, Abrego is urging Xinis to block his redetention. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

This was so bad on its own merits, but it also revealed that the pure popularists have no red lines. If you can't stand up for men being disappeared to a foreign torture prison without due process, then what's the point of you?

Judge Paula Xinis just issued temporary restraining order barring Trump administration from detaining Kilmar Abrego Garcia when he reports to ICE this morning. ICE had demanded his appearance after judge freed him from custody yesterday.

NEW: The Trump-Vance White House has falsely accused an ally of Pope Leo — Sr. Norma Pimentel — of illegal activity tied to migrant aid, and cut off all federal funding to Catholic Charities in Texas.

Church leaders say it’s a targeted, political reprisal against Pope Leo and the Catholic Church.

I am dead serious when I say that if one of the most vulnerable people in the country can do this with the right allies, no fight in American politics is completely hopeless.

This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him.

I don’t know how else to say it…

Wild to me that Indiana’s entire House delegation didn’t jointly introduce articles of impeachment in response to this shakedown. If you won’t even bother to represent or protect your constituents what’s the point of even holding office? Completely spineless.

It is extremely funny to me to imagine this happening in an American context.

It would be like Marco Rubio was on track to win 2028 with record numbers, cratered to Ben Bernanke as the Dem candidate and then Bernanke proceeded to convince multiple senators to join the Democratic caucus.

Also, when your political strength is built on the idea that no one is allowed to say no to you, being successfully told "no" is potentially very, very bad
Indiana’s Senate has voted AGAINST the GOP gerrymander that’d have locked in a 9-0 map.

This keeps the 7-2 map in place, saving two Democratic seats heading into 2026.

The vote failed big, 19/31.

The MAJORITY of the GOP senators opposed it!

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

Feels like we're at a turning point.

Republicans have spent a decade terrified they'd be drummed out of politics for mild criticism of Trump; now more and more of them are out in the open with it.

By 2026, average swingish district R will be full-on sprinting away from Trump.
