If you need a little beauty in your life right now, take a moment to lose yourself in this gorgeous piece that I commissioned from @anyachalina.bsky.social for @autonocast.bsky.social.

I call it "City of Dreams" and I can't wait to hang a high quality print of it in my home.

I know the lowest form of Bluesky discourse is "Look, at those freaks at X are saying" but this post really left me speechless in a completely novel and singular way

I wonder how many Canadians would sign up for the expanded reserves or a territorial militia if it meant they could actually use their RPAL?

The Ontario car industry is in a rough spot. We turned out back on Chinese EVs, trying to stay friendly with the US under Biden. And now that has turned to ash. We still don't dare expose ourselves to Chinese competition, so now what? Are we stuck with levering companies to build cars here?
I've been willing to give Carney a fair bit of slack so far. But this is classic Liberal pork barrelling.

Remind me in 2031 to check in on our Hyundai/VW factories. I expect they'll be about as successful as the battery plants and innovation superclusters.

But I bet Joly gets to cut a ribbon

Lol. "Unemployed media" is the perfect term. So much opp work, for free!
JD is playing games with the media and even the unemployed media seem to fall for his "highly verbal and peculiarly aggravating" form of bullshit. He knows that he's saying things that aren't true, and that his best broadcast comes from getting enough sputtering people to share him.

For people who can read, the US Senate ratified the UN charter making it American law. These threats are clearly illegal.

small cars provide a more premium experience in any kind of proper city, and shouldn't simply be synonymous with "cheap and low end"

As a teen in northern Ontario in the early 1990s, the excitement of the drive down to Toronto began somewhere around Orillia when you could pick up the CFNY signal on the car stereo and plug into a whole wider world of music that had not yet reached you in the sticks. Keen to see this!
In 1976, CFNY launched from a small suburban house just north of Toronto and went on to become one of the most influential punk, new wave, and alternative radio stations in the world.

"CFNY: The Spirit of Radio" premieres tomorrow at 9pm on TVO.

Bitch, no you fucking wouldn’t.
We'd be greeted as liberators in Alberta! An invasion of Canada is a terrible idea (and won't happen), but not b/c of the fearsome CAF or Mounties. Vietnamese took insane casualties to wear out the US. Canadians don't meet their NATO spending goal and would go along in their passive-aggressive way.

"This was approved because OLC said it falls inside the President's inherent Art II powers and nothing else" should get anyone's spidey sense up, but it won't, which is a part of the problem
That's the thing, though: this ain't My Lai where there is a particular guy pointing at civilians and pulling the trigger.

Some JAG briefs "this mission is approved by congress under the 2001 AUMF" and then what? Every helicopter pilot "does their own research" to see if that's true?

My theory is that Trump formed his personality in 1979 and is regressing into senility. He hasn’t formed a durable memory since Obama.
My theory on why people are so invested in the idea that Venezuela's oil is good and profitable is because they all bought into the Chavez-era propaganda that Venezuela's oil industry was great and helping the poor because it was nationalized, and they're still seeing everything through that lens.

This just isn’t true. Presidents have been bombing countries without congressional authority for generations. Murdering the court would struggle to win even 5-4.
There’s no intrinsic difference in judging that the president lacks the authority to tell you to massacre the Supreme Court than to judge he lacks the authority to invade Canada or Venezuela without congressional authorization.

Back to the Future - Dumb and Dumberrer.
“This is clearly about spending a ton of money to go back in time to avenge your repeated humiliation at the hands of 2nd grade bully OPEC while your brothers in 4th & 6th grade Carter or Dubya just stood by sheepishly even though you now have a much nicer house than OPEC, who works for you.”
The amount of “this is clearly about oil” posting across all platforms as story after story comes out where the oil industry is saying that the oil isn’t worth extracting is making me feel a little insane
