the term "content creator" served it's purpose very well. conditioning people into seeing everyone as anyone and everything as anything, mostly among the ruling class who found it most convenient for their pockets. in that sense, generating slop is the final result of content creation
the enthusiasm for generative AI would not have been possible without prior decades of capitalist conditioning to view works of art as products, rather than acts of culture and shared human life
I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.

Reminder that if anyone is setting you up online to do some crime, THAT PERSON IS A COP.

ALWAYS.

WITHOUT FAIL.
Donald Trump has instructed the entire FBI to prioritize finding ways to bring charges against anti-fascists and other activists. Any FBI agent who wants to advance his career now has an incentive to set up naïve kids for an entrapment case.

Please read about entrapment and how to protect yourself.

for anyone who doesn’t understand the context here, a levee broke due to the weeks of excessive rain we’ve been getting — not a sudden event! — and Amazon tried to force its workers to stay on the job or punish them for calling out

Amazon wasn't letting people evacuate during a flash flood GO NOW evacuation up around Tukwila, WA. The state had to step in and say "fuck you, let these people go".

Arkansas will become the first state to lose PBS.

The state-wide network will switch to local programming in 2026 — after a vote by a board appointed by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

RIP, Arkansas PBS - Arkansas Times
The end of federal funding for public media demolishes Arkansas PBS. The station will rebrand as ATV and feature mainly local programming.

Another US airstrike in Somalia happened yesterday, near Kismayo. AFRICOM released no casualty figures or other information beyond saying it "targeted" al-Shabaab. This is by my count the 87th strike or series of strikes announced by AFRICOM this year, by far the most ever in a year in Somalia.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

When I lived in LA 97-99 (and you may recall this @davidjroth.bsky.social), Rob Reiner led the smoking ban in bars. I couldn’t believe bars could exist without cigs. And I don’t even smoke.

He kickstarted all of it. I still go to bars. I never have to Febreez my clothes.

So, also that.

There are thousands of pro-Palestine accounts who are really part of hasbara. They post antisemitic memes and inappropriate statements. We've been dealing with it for a long time. Recently they've been switched from real people to an AI software so now their messages are just confused nonsense
Not to be all doomer or alarmist, but, has anybody else been noticing an increase in these type of Pro-Palestine leftist accounts that suddenly turn insane and go mask off? Or am I just being too conspiracy brained?
This POS is repeatedly saying no children have died in school shootings because they're all CIA ops

He's also responsible for raising all the money that paid for bringing Hollingsworth v. Perry & even more importantly Bostic v. Schaefer, which created the circuit split that forced SCOTUS to take on Obergefell v. Hodges. The role he played in American marriage equality cannot be overstated.
The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

I’ve gotten a few replies like this today and I just want to point out
1. None of them have come from Palestinians
2. Violent antisemitism predates the existence of a Zionist movement, which began in Europe in an colonialist environment
3. These comments themselves conflate Judaism with Zionism
Tragically, Israel has done its best to ruin these Jewish symbols for everyone and brought danger to all Jews by constantly conflating the IDF’s barbarism with the Jewish people. That is unforgivable.
