need to run errands but it's okay. I checked the ice map to see if they were kidnapping people at the cub again and it doesn't seem like it. Just a normal day here in Minnesota, the place I moved to seeking safety.

People in Minnesota are now using their key fobs to trigger their car alarms from the safety of their homes when they see ICE walking around.

no honor, no dignity. a lifetime of trying to atone for the wrong they’re doing will not be enough. The appropriate posture for them all this morning is on their knees in the Minnesota cold begging the God of the universe, Who is against them, for forgiveness
How much more in your face can it be?

"Why are you asking me for my paperwork?"
"Because of your accent."
"You have an accent too."
"Where were you born sir?"
"Where were you born at?"
"Put your hands behind your back."

Non-violent protest is NOT peaceful protest.

Politicians and the media use these words interchangeably to our detriment. And most folks don't hear the difference. Here's what I mean:

This is my regular reminded that if your clothes are full of tear gas and/or pepper spray, air them for a day if at all possible and then wash them twice ON COLD.

If you come home and throw them in on hot right away you will kinda gas your laundry room. <3

This is your reminder that Hungarian-Jewish scientist George de Hevesy dissolved two Nobel Prizes in aqua regia to keep them out of the hands of the Nazis.

He then left the dissolved solution on his shelf and fled to Sweden.

(After the war he un-dissolved the gold and the prizes were re-cast.)

I thought Canadians were genetically predisposed to mastery of understatement til I moved to Minnesota where I discovered there are whole other levels of understatement that can communicate some very terrifying sentiments
If a Minnesotan says to you, "I don't plan to let you do that," run.

Downtown Minneapolis currently—

Jake Lang and a handful of other racists/RW propagandists are surrounded by about 50 cameras and some antifascists chanting him down. A banner the group arrived with has been broken.

remember the point of enjoining them from detaining us isn't to prevent them from detaining us. it's to have precedent, and to prevent the Nuremberg defense later.

It's striking that the federal line is now simply that there is no justifiable or legal means of resistance, defense, or protest, against ICE period. That seems to me like a change/escalation (though I know it's not unprecedented). Either assist ICE or comply with them, or be attacked and slandered.
The actual story is that a family of American citizens trying to evacuate from a neighborhood that ICE had made unsafe, and then ICE tossed munitions into the car, causing three kids to be hospitalized and a six month old to stop breathing. DHS called the family “radical agitators”

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

I ask you.

If you can take the risk. If you can make it happen. Support Minnesota on Jan 23rd.

Keep your kids home from school. Take a sick day. Do not buy anything, do not go anywhere, do not participate in capitalism either as a worker or a consumer.

The people united can never be defeated.

It’s been reported locally, but I’m not sure how much national notice this has gotten. As part of this invasion by shithead goons, they are putting ICE agents in jetbridges and other parts of the airport at Minneapolis-Saint Paul. If you are flying Delta via MSP, you are putting yourself at risk.
