Because if they had four doors they’d be chicken sedans

If anyone on here has tips on going car free in a city like Denver, let me know!

I wrote a parody of Billy Joel's "She's Always A Woman" so good my friend thought it was AI:

It can kill your postseason
Make you all teary-eyed
And it can ruin your faith if you cheer for the Tide
And it’s only a path if you go 9-3
It’s named after Cheez-It
But it’s always the Citrus to me

The real ideological difference here is that Zohran Mamdani and Kshama Sawant represent two different factions of leftism- serious and not serious

To the degree the response to Mamdani-Trump has been especially deranged, it may be because it reveals the relative unimportance of whatever it is we’re all doing here

Three years ago, Utrecht completed the transformation of the Sint Josephlaan and turned an unattractive, unlivable car sewer into a green city boulevard.

It shows that even Dutch cities were not always like they are today and have often come a long way in becoming better versions of themselves.

a significant reason Mamdani can get away with this and other Dems can’t is less that he’s charmed Trump and more that he’s charmed you, dear reader, which is why you’re not yelling at him for being a collaborator or an appeaser right now

When states like Colorado passed policies requiring employers to disclose salary information in job postings, what happened?

It increased competition, and raised wages, without harming employment or changing skill requirements.

Improved functioning of markets, helped workers.

the problem is

1) normal people think you are simply going to make crime legal, because that is the most obvious interpretation

2) a bunch of people calling themselves prison abolitionists really do just want to make crime legal
“prison abolition” in terms of like, “have something basically unrecognizable compared to american corrections” seems fine to me—the problem is just overdoing the language to sound radical. I think that’s where people started, and then negatively polarized themselves into much dumber positions
the thing about the prisonculture story is that she gives herself the simplest possible problem -- "a despised outsider in a society with no deviance immediately confesses to a murder and raises no justification" -- then whiffs the response by torturing the perpetrator and saves them by fiat.
