Volunteers noticed an uptick in detentions at the San Diego ICE office on Thursday, and officers detained at least 11 people who came for appointments.

i'm kind of blown away by how obvious it is if you're, like, literate. at all. i don't even mean for books, i also mean for movies. i mean that if you have understood things at any point in your life, this is obvious. so it's weird to see people act like they don't understand it
this is just straight-up dictatorship and it’s repulsive and pathetic our newspapers and TV stations still won’t say so. there is no emergency. there is no precedent for this in US history. Trump is establishing military and paramilitary control of the capital

Things that have gone in garbage trucks in sweeps in San Diego:
- All bicycles regardless of condition.
- Painstakingly reacquired ID documents.
- Urns with human remains.
- Tents with people in them.
Press needs to stop repeating govt euphemism of “clearing homeless camps.” I’ve witnessed it in other cities: massive destruction of personal property. Not just bedrolls & tents; family photos, Bibles, meds. Times I’ve seen it people weren’t even given option to move their things.

You're probably going to have to be slightly more specific than this.
SUBWAY GUY DID NOTHING WRONG
AG Bondi says a DOJ employee has been fired after he was arrested for allegedly throwing a wrapped Subway sandwich at a federal law enforcement officer in Washington, D.C.

Following his arrest, the man allegedly told one of the arresting officers: “I did it. I threw a sandwich.” wapo.st/3Uq59TN

Seizure medication, wheelchairs, Social Security cards, dentures, urns of ashes, work uniforms — just some of what's been thrown away during cruel, degrading, utterly counterproductive homeless sweeps.

A good time to revisit this gutting @propublica.org story:

Taking photos and video of law enforcement officers performing their duties in public is our constitutional right.

This includes police, FBI, National Guard troops, ICE agents, and other government officials.

Happy Juneteenth! in the spirit of Toni Morrison's quote "If you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else." We will today highlight people who have embodied this spirit of activism and have been detained by ICE. /1

It cannot be overstated how much the Democrats’ capitulation to the right on immigration has brought us to where we are today.
This is the result of Dems/liberals not only building much of the infrastructure for decades, but engaging in flat-earth fearmongering about immigration and crime that bears no relation to fact. But it's deeper, it's about deeply immoral, unserious, and incoherent elite liberal framing/positions.

No decent person opposes narcan, a lifesaving drug. RFK Jr’s position is like opposing HIV medications, vaccines, and insul— oh wait
There are few things as cost effective as Narcan, especially in a country where (entirely preventable) opioid overdoses have been a leading cause of death for years. For every 6 kits distributed 1 OD is prevented. The $56M in this grant trained >66K people and distributed >282,500 kits in 2024 alone
RFK Jr. to End 'Godsend' Narcan Program That Helped Reduce Overdose Deaths Despite His Past Heroin Addiction
Despite overcoming heroin addiction himself, RFK Jr. is backing plans to cut a critical Narcan program that helped reduce overdose deaths.

👇🎯 We are having trouble using proper terminology because it requires us to fully accept exactly what has happened to our country & wrestle with the fact that every single one of our elected representatives in Congress is violating their oaths of office by not immediately impeaching & removing him.
Kidnapping.

Capturing a person against their will without due process is called kidnapping.

Transporting them to another country without due process is called human trafficking.

A squalid extrajudicial prison for people found guilty of no crime is called a concentration camp.
stop calling things deportation just because they call it deportation.

-You cannot legally deport people without due process.

-You cannot legally deport citizens.

-They are defining down deportation to break the law.

Lots of half cooked thoughts about widespread protests this weekend. I truly hope that even the most inexperienced are thinking critically about WHY people could show up en masse w/ kids & dogs & pithy signs, while there are folks being disappeared for protesting.

I made a site today that lets you compare the net worth of billionaires and corporations to the GDP of entire countries. Check it out.

I want to raise awareness of the scale. There are many people - and tons of companies - with more wealth than the annual economic output of individual EU nations
