I find the American cultural norm of using seasons as a time reference device so weird.

"Such and such is stepping down in spring" means absolutely nothing to anyone in the Southern Hemisphere without some mental gymnastics.

Instead of generative models, we need destructive models.
I believe the future is bright for engineers that love to delete huge unnecessary chunks of a codebase.

The days when I get to push PRs with a net -1000 lines of code, are nice days.

Lines of code are liability. Recycle them and put them to better use!

An unfortunately large number of people in the Computer Touching industry think their job is exclusively about touching computers when it's actually about Solving Problems via computer touching. Having a new kind of computer that solves even more problems when you touch it is good actually!

"hey I heard you hate plutocrats. instead of fighting them in any way that matters, you should instead exhaust yourself fighting a technological paradigm shift. this one you can totally turn back the tide on. it won't be like any of the other ones"

Isn’t this the problem that Mojo is meant to solve?
No public link yet but Amazon says they're able to beat NVIDIA on price with their new Trainium3 accelerator. Just one problem: "Amazon’s chips lack the deep software libraries that help customers get Nvidia’s graphics processing units up and running fast."

I’m sure this has never once occurred to Vlad.
Yeah, one of the many nightmare scenarios facing us is that a badly led and mostly destroyed intelligence infrastructure fails to prevent a major terrorist attack and that attack is then used as justification to speed up the fascism.
I do in fact stay awake at night sometimes thinking about how the MAGA ghouls are destroying actually-essential counterterrorism efforts in favor of directing resources towards brutalizing elderly taco truck workers
