I'm fascinate by the idea of a lobster fence. It's probably much less interesting than I'm imagining but moving freight-sized amounts of stolen perishables implies some serious logistics.

I am in no way trying to be a buzzkill, but one thing I would love to see more of in 2026 are conversations about time, labor, & the fact that artists in many mediums are held to truly unsustainable expectations of pace and output. I'm thinking specifically about ttrpgs, but it applies broadly.

Check out the underground observatory dungeon schematic, here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stjerne...
A thought on RPG location design ... I am so so tired of tombs and ruined castles. The real world in infinitely more inventive. Consider instead the first "modern" observatory in Europe - Uraniborg - a pre-telescope astronomy island, including the "underground observatory" Stjerneborg ...

I've been talking about Castle Automatic a lot, but I want to make sure I pull the camera back and talk about the game system it's built for, HIS MAJESTY THE WORM, too. Gonna make a 🧵 about the core game's principles and add to it over the coming week.

The new preface to this great and depressing scholarly book gets into the explosion of sports betting and “prediction markets” since 2012’s 1st edition, plus well-meaning games-for-change types trying to harness dark patterns for good. Everyone within 30 feet of gamedev should read it.

New post: How a Roleplaying Game like D&D Could Make Rounds Play Better
• Making retreat practical like in 1974
• "Join me, and together, we can rule the galaxy"
• 6 seconds of simultaneous effects, just like AD&D

RPG Design: How a Roleplaying Game like D&D Could Make Rounds Play Better
Since D&D dropped the declaration phase in favor of cyclic initiative, it has let one round blur into the next without any phases that trigger between rounds. Still, each round represents a sho…

Just bought this. Read and loved a short story Chris wrote (name escapes me! Sorry Chris!) Looking forward to it.
I've been taking the marketing for The Mouth Of Winter very seriously, so you should take the book very seriously.

(Genuinely though it's pretty good, you should read it)

it is good that Mitt "47% of the US are Takers" Romney wants to tax the rich. But Mitt Romney did not just develop deep generosity of spirit which makes him believe in a robust social safety net.

Mitt Romney is smart enough that he's having guillotine nightmares.

Good. Yes. More.

Spotted a 60-something man on the beach reading Olivia Nuzzi’s “American Canto.” His wife is nearby. She has Mar-a-Lago face and is wearing a trucker hat that says “Sun. Yoga. Champagne.” She’s been watching a live cam feed of her front door on a comically large tablet for the last 20 minutes.
