ICE and the police are the same damn people.

ACAB
I saw an ICE raid today in Cedar-Riverside. The man they took said repeatedly he was a U.S. Citizen and had ID. They put him in a car they sped off at an unsafe speed. Not that I expected much, but I called 911 and reported their behavior. The dispatcher asked "what I wanted them to do about it."

gonna say that if a poorly written thinly-veiled "Harry Potter rape fantasy with the serial numbers filed off" book got a six-figure publishing deal and pre-sold movie rights then all the wonderfully written trans books you and I know of deserve AT LEAST more than that.

Who could I commission to draw me the following:

A sully colored labubu
With 3 sets of furby eyes stacked on top of each other (the ears as giant eye stocks)
In a brown Victorian style top hat and holding a cane
In lisa frank style

My brain decided it was something I needed a visual for.

Today is the 70th anniversary of Rosa Parks' arrest. Six myths: 1) She wasn't old or tired. 42 years old that day, she had a "life history of being rebellious" & had spent two decades helping to turn the Montgomery NAACP into a more activist branch alongside ED Nixon and Johnnie Carr.

The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

On this day 26 years ago, demonstrators blockaded and shut down the summit of the World Trade Organization in Seattle—demonstrating the power of direct action and horizontal, decentralized organizing.

Today, as federal mercenaries attack our communities, we need this reference point more than ever.
Epilogue on the Movement against Capitalist Globalization
22 years after the victory against the World Trade Organization in Seattle, what can we learn from the networks that gave rise to that movement?

I think the answer to endless blackouts is for the United States to fully fund the power grid of the people we continue to treat like a colony
When power went out across all of Puerto Rico on 16 April, a lot of the lights in the town of Adjuntas stayed on. A combination of experimental microgrids, solar panels, and storage kept power on for many businesses and residents.

Meanwhile, feds redirect $365 million away from solar toward grid fixes

In 1938, a New York Times reporter warned:

“When and if fascism comes to America it will not be labeled ‘made in Germany’; it will not be marked with a swastika; it will not even be called fascism; it will be called, of course, ‘Americanism’.”

On Nov. 29 1864, the Sand Creek massacre occurred when US troops attacked a peaceful gathering of Cheyenne and Arapaho people. They killed between 170-230 unarmed people, torturing them, then scalping and mutilating the victims. Children, women & elders were especially targeted.

My capstone was on the history of Minnesota LGBTQIA+ in relation to the Stonewall Riot.

Stonewall was merely the police brutality that made it to international news.
The way that there is a whole generation of LGBTQ+ folks who refuses to educate themselves on the history and the culture of the LGBTQ+ community will never not upset me.

I think when I first came out to myself in my early 20s, that was the first thing I did.

I see AI slop in anything, I instantly disregard the whole thing. It's like finding a slug in your salad. If you can't write without an LLM, or you can't source art that isn't genAI, you can't be trusted to do anything. Sorry. Absolute deal-breaker.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

White Gays and Lesbians

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

As a reminder this holiday season:

FUCK SALVATION ARMY

Stop donating to them and give it to a local shelter near you, that doesn’t spread hate.

My personal “Don’t give to the Salvation Army” story:
When I was homeless in 2019, the Salvation Army shelter refused to give me a bed (even though they were available), because I was on immunosuppressant meds and they didn’t want to be responsible or liable if I got more sick or died on premises. They’d rather I die on the street.
It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.
