Exactly - and I am being very transparent about what I am doing and why. It's a little personal project to add value while also encouraging people to think about what they read and how they know it. Anyone who cared enough to criticize could spend two seconds on my feed and find detailed explanation
What you're doing is completely reasonable. Verification is always a judgement based on available evidence made by a trusted authority. In Twitter's case, who knows who the actual people were who issued badges and how much due diligence there was? If people don't trust you, they can just ignore it.
