my hot take is that the fantasy that’s being catered to with videos like the one going around is of participation in a seamless, infinite, directed loop where the player and computer are constantly updating each other. which is where I think a lot of the satisfaction in systemic video games is. 🧵
this is stupid but at some point i think we have to confront the fact that there appears to be a not insignificant demand for videogames to be the holodeck, an infinite virtual playground you can basically live in. except even holodeck programs were actually written by someone, right?
Oh my god some fucking tech dingdong posted this on Twitter with the caption "AI games are going to be amazing" totally seriously, you have to watch it. You have to. In full screen.

Just FYI the F1 documentary “1” (2013) is free to watch on YouTube right now. It was hard to find for a while and it’s pretty good! Candidate for a patreon episode? youtu.be/GFsslffb2Y4?...

Death Stranding 2 is a more conventional game (rocket launchers, robo-samurais!) which somewhat dilutes the original's radically slow, radically non-violent design ethos.

Yet the experience as a whole moved me greatly. Never change, Kojima.

Our review of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, a fascinating sequel that sacrifices a little of its strangeness.

Giant Bomb meant the world to me. i couldn't believe it when i joined GameSpot in 2016 and started working alongside them. but many of the folks who've come and gone became my closest friends and inspirations in my personal life. those are the kinds of bonds we built outside of our work.

Hi there, I'm more of a leftist than a progressive but I'm happy to help with an non-conservative argument against building a ton of new homes at all income levels

🧵
There is no credible progressive argument against building a ton of new homes at all income levels. Opposing making it easier to build new homes isn’t progressive. It’s super conservative & an argument for a permanent shortage & permanent high rents.
If your whole thing is being a "renter's advocate" and you aren't running full speed towards this you are probably doing something else

Opinion | Watching ‘Andor’ Is No Substitute for Actual Resistance
I have always found the praise for the show’s revolutionary politics to be at odds with the means of its production.

In 1995 how do you render polygonal tires in a fully 3D racing game? You don't! Just make them 32(?) directional sprites, and they are gonna look great!

I've been thinking about David Lynch's death the past few days. He is enormously important to me for many reasons, but I think at the forefront is: he was just some guy who made things. He painted, directed, sculpted, composed as a way to communicate with people. And it worked. Can't ask for better.
