We’ve got a decent-size house. The dogs have a mudroom, we let them have a “dog living room” , they have at least 6 beds. They are both rescues, every day, in the smallest space:

since the cold snap i've had the back rooms (furnace setting: 58F) closed off from the front room (daytime temp: 43F) and the front room closed off from the mudroom+front bathroom in which ive left the sink faucet on slow drip (daytime temp: pictured). i really need it to break 20F outside soon

I'm going to finish my home fixes that I've been getting to this week. I've changed lightbulbs, cleaned my mudroom, organized the bookshelf in my music room, threw out expired food, etc. Honestly, all these things will go a long way to helping me be happy in writing and life.

I’m sort of accidentally rebuilding the whole mudroom because I didn’t want to spend another winter with my front door freezing shut

Hubbs took the kids (+ extra teen boys!) away for the weekend. With unexpected free time I painted the mudroom. Then I hung his late father’s pig print above the keys, and framed a pic for my aunt of my baby cousin who died a few yrs ago. Why can’t I just chillax like a reasonable person??

But IF I EVER DID I would expect a 1:1 bedroom to bathroom ratio, heated floorboards, a pot filler, and a dedicated mudroom, plus IDK some more stuff from HGTV I'm not thinking about right now)
