I’ve never seen this but I assume the fake mummies thought the real mummy was one of them but did the real mummy think “huh there’s two more mummies here, let’s do this together”

In 2017 I needed to create a grid of logos for Monotype requiring separators between items. I had to use pseudo-elements & "magic numbers" for simple lines 😩

In 2025: CSS finally solves this!

the piece makes no attempt to grapple with that question, which is the actual thing people are arguing about.

this feels completely banal? yes, a big tent political party is going to include voters who have bigoted views. i don’t think anyone has argued otherwise? the actual question at hand is “to what extent should a political party ostensibly committed to equality appeal to popular prejudices?”

What did you think winning meant? vibes? papers? essays? losers.

im also just gonna say it, thats like, the worst, most offensive nazi tattoo you can get this side of like, a photorealistic portrait of adolf hitler

ftr ive met people who "had a nazi phase" and even one guy who had a nazi phase (no quotations) and youd best believe that step 1 to getting out of there was getting any tattoos covered up or removed

The most fundamental feature of LLM chatbots is that they are essentially anti-skill; they are in effect trained adversarially *against* the ability of a human operator to accurately evaluate whether the chatbot's output is useful to them.

When someone claims that they are 'adept at using LLMs' and 'know how to avoid the pitfalls', that's a self-reported claim from a person repeatedly exposing themselves to the chatbot. If their confidence in their ability to 'use it correctly' isn't delusional already, it probably will be eventually.

I've never really done video for anything before, so I tried out a couple of different intros for this while I was trying to figure out how to do all this in the first place. But, I dunno.

A conspiracy theory I have is that people put hot sauces like Tabasco on everything not so much for the pepper as they do for the benefits of adding vinegar to a dish and that’s what they should be focusing on and recognizing. This conspiracy theory has not gotten traction due to “lack of interest”

thanksgiving is coming up, this is a wake up call to find your local food bank and ask them how you can help - don’t assume they just need non-perishables. also, churches may need donations
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

Does seem like there’s a non-zero chance that the shutdown never really ends and that Congress has already abolished itself.
I find it amazing too that Republicans’ boycott of Washington isn’t the biggest story of them all.

The shutdown can’t end if they refuse to show up for work.

Oh okay. So, they just destroyed the fucking entire East Wing of the White House. Sick. Awesome.
Nothing captures the current state of U.S. democracy as accurately as this (real) picture of the White House.

the 80s had a high density of celebrities whose authenticity was hard to figure out, as a kid. like, was Mr. T a real guy? he was like that in shows/movies but also in interviews? or pee wee, elvira, max headroom, various wrestlers. even alf was on celebrity squares. it was a confusing time.

a fictionalized mr t series, a la POKER FACE

each episode mr t is bodyguarding someone new (b plot) and fields an assassination or bounty request (a plot)

underpinned by a season long arc about bringing mr t cereal to market
honestly would watch a mr t documentary, this is all bananas
