"i was wrong, it's fascism"

interesting, will you be valuing political insights of the people who were right more

"no"

will the atlantic be giving jobs of political commentary and analysis to anybody who was right from the start?

"no"

fascinating! wonder why that is.

it is probably because they are responding to their earlier errors by taking positive action now, which helps defend their neighbors, rather than by retroactive reputation management in the Atlantic, which does not

statistically speaking (and based off the articles) it is a near certainty that thousands of people currently patrolling the streets in Minnesota are people who did not immediately believe the warnings of the left 10 years ago. I see very little criticism of *them* on here
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

This is so important because A) she did it in response to Benedict Wong, a far more prominent actor, saying he's listening to the audiobooks a lot and B) did it unprompted, she specifically stopped the fluff interview to draw the comparison to the themes of their film and support trans people.
You’ve got to love how actress Kelly Marie Tran, one of the most harassed people ever to be on the internet, still leapt up to defend trans people in a recent interview. No one would blame her for keeping her head down and shutting up forever but she will NOT and I admire her for it ⭐

The smug retort to those who expressed concerns about the Tory plan for 'ICE-style' removals was that a UK ICE 'obviously' wouldn't operate like US ICE would, and now a former Tory Home Secretary is stating her desire to do away with basic humanitarian protections. Are we going to get real yet?

The regime obviously thought they'd be able to take out a few dozen scary-queer-weirdo Antifa types in black masks and then successfully cow the rest of the Coastal Elite Liberal class into terrified silence: they were not expecting "totally fearless mass nonviolent resistance by entire cities."
It also sounds like at least some of them thought the cameras wouldn't matter because they were assuming that a couple of public executions would cause all of the resistance to run and hide.

It’s a reminder of how completely unserious our nation is that we have a live illustration of where this leads in Minnesota and yet everyone pretends a Reform government is just an ok idea.

I just want to remind people that when we talk about creating a "British ICE" and a concentration camp as somehow copying America, we already had the previous Tory government set up a concentration camp run by British military personnel for asylum seekers rapidly shut down after legal battles.
The UK version of “Project 2025” by the Reform party includes a British ICE, a concentration camp for 24,000 people, mass surveillance and withdrawing from refugee, anti-torture and anti-trafficking conventions.

It’s on their website. That’s how comfortable fascists are in the UK today.

A big part of the story here is that women like Renee Good are braver and stronger than they could have ever imagined and that just doesn't fit with what MAGA men tell themselves about how gender works. It just does not compute.

Which does not mean backing off, but pushing harder.

All these people need to go to prison, at the least. We learned from Jan 6 that we need to jail everyone right up to the top, or they just come back after being pardoned by the worst president in American history.
Border Patrol is pulling out of Minneapolis. Bovino is ending his punitive tour of blue cities. Calls for Noem's resignation are mounting, even in conservative media. Senate Democrats are dug in now on refusing to fund DHS and ICE. "Abolish ICE" is now a mainstream position.

They are losing.

Abolish ICE says the most popular Dem in the party. The most popular politician of the moment. The guy who got 50% of the insane melting pot known as NYC to vote for him. Maybe he's got the right instincts? Who can say
ICE murdered Renée Good in broad daylight. Less than 3 weeks later, they killed Alex Pretti, shooting him 10 times. Every day, we watch as people are ripped from their cars, their homes, their lives.

We can't allow ourselves to look away from this cruelty. Abolish ICE.

closest thing to an explanation i can find is that a running theme in a bunch of the trump-voter-whispering articles the papers love to put up is people going, "well. i just made up his political positions, and i agree with the positions i made up for him."
more seriously, so what did they vote for? because some are on record saying they voted for him because business and anti-lgbt shit, meaning that they were completely okay with a different group suffering.

others wanted an end to "woke" and "dei" as if those were bad, and so were okay with racism
Seriously, folks, people did NOT vote for murder on the streets. A majority of those who voted went for Trump, and to win power, those against Trump will have to win many of them over, not reject them all as people who want fascism.
