Ending deportation protections for Myanmar immigrants means sending people back to a country still facing conflict and persecution. This choice puts real lives at real risk.

Trump Administration Ends Deportation Protections for Myanmar Immigrants
The Department of Homeland Security justified the decision on the grounds that the country has “made notable progress in governance and stability.”

ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

I did not expect the Broadview facility in suburban Chicago to appear on this list. And it didn't. ICE considers these kinds of places as "office locations" or "processing centers", which means Broadview is not an "authorized facility" by the agency's definition.

NEW: The exodus of corrections officers from federal prisons to ICE comes amid shortages of critical supplies, from food to personal hygiene items, for both staff and inmates.

It threatens to make the already grim conditions in these prisons even worse.

Many of the problems the agency is facing now are not new, but staff and prisoners fear an exodus of officers could make life behind bars even worse.

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

À ce stade là, il n'y a plus de terme, de sacre, de juron dont la portée sémantique suffit pour qualifier l'inqualifiable.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.
