Obviously, SCOTUS needs to wear patches on their robes to mark their own sponsors, just like all politicians should.
SCOTUS is dealing with problems that arise from justices’ ownership of individual stocks.

What did the court do to address this ethical question? Did the justices agree to divest from individual stock ownership? Of course not.

Parties are directed to include stock ticker symbols in their briefs.
SCOTUS changed the rules for bringing cases to the court because John Roberts won't sell his stocks
Roberts and Alito are the only two justices who own individual stocks. Also: A new lawsuit challenges the Trump admin's removal of the Pride flag at the Stonewall Monument.

Deplorable state of U.S. media on display here, deliberately misleading the public. You can literally type into Google the same question @aoc.bsky.social was asked and the AI will give you her same answer because "strategic ambiguity" has been official U.S. policy her whole life.

There is no coherent historical legacy that directly links Athens and Rome to Christian Europe and the United States while leaving out the Islamic world. This is such ahistorical nonsense.

I seriously don't think most people understand HOW excited scientists were about mRNA vaccines. They were the first big paradigm shift in immunity research since polio. With the potential to be even more world altering.
“Is there a technology the left is excited about?”

High-speed rail! MRNA vaccines! New cancer treatments! Solar and wind energy collection! Better and longer-range EVs! That wood that's harder than steel! New apples! Fibermaxxing! Buldak Swicy ramen! Muppets! Muppets are too a technology, shut up!

When the NYT asked "Did women ruin the workplace?" (puh-lease 🙄) they hit on one of my history pet peeves: WHEREVER DID WE GET THE IDEA THAT WOMEN DIDN'T USE TO WORK? (Sorry for shouting, I feel strongly about this.)

Here are some 18th century business cards of, yes, shudder, women.

Could you IMAGINE high-speed rail across this country? I'd never not be on it. I'd just be bullet-training all over the goddamn place. I'd have my head out the window like a dog and the sheer WIND outside the train would rip my eyebrows off and it'd be worth it.

Sorry to get radical but I don’t think it’s my job or yours to embrace, accept, understand - and certainly not to use - the thing being sold to us as AI. I don’t like any part of it, so I won’t. I’m missing out? Good, that’s what I want. You’re worried about me missing out? That’s fuckin weird, man.

I was thinking about this old post because I saw Colin Jost’s video about his bobsled run and it was roughly my reaction when I did the bobsled ride at Park City and was convinced that I would die
My rough estimate is that I would die attempting 25% of Olympic events, injure myself attempting another 25%, be completely unable to even simulate participation in another 25%, and 25% could do approximately two orders of magnitude slower than the athletes.

This is correct. It’s sad that the logic of the neoliberal university - pack as many students into classes as possible, value disciplines based on many majors/enrollments they attract - militates against this.
It’s going to sound quaint, but the best way to resist an AI takeover of the humanities is to assign physical books, sit around, read them, and argue about ideas. Academic has become such a competitive arena, that we ourselves are trained to look for the winning angle, instead of the best education.
