other thing driving people so hard for "promise your vote right now for this shitbag years in advance" aside from the anxiety that cannot be quieted is the gnawing sense that the party CANNOT be budged from the 'no change+abandon minorities even harder' tack, so it's all yelling at everyone else

There are neighbors that we don’t see anymore. Have they moved, are they afraid to leave their homes, are they being harassed by others, did ICE kidnap them?

People are literally disappearing and I fear the worst is yet to come.

A common misconception I still hear about the Japanese language by people who are only vaguely familiar with it is that it has no swear words. Trust me; it does. What IS true is that it doesn’t always dovetail easily with English swear words, so translators will often avoid the typical go-to curses.

I feel incredibly fortunate that my workplace broke off from the corporation we were a part of and converted to a small nonprofit last year, so that the staff was able to take a hardline stance against ICE early on and worry about any backlash later. Thankfully, our clients ended up on board too.
I'm pretty proud of this poem I made out of the euphemisms that companies used to describe the ICE occupation in corporate communications. Also read the whole story: racketmn.com/corporate-co...

really interesting to me how many professional political commentators have basically retconned the draconian immigration enforcement policies of Obama and Biden out of existence and have completely swallowed the right wing narrative of immigration enforcement

the cycle of “devs working for years to make a game > game launches (and it doesn’t matter how successful it is) > two week waiting period > most of the team laid off” is not only entirely unsustainable but genuinely horrifying
Highguard developer Wildlight has reportedly laid off most of its team, says one a level designer sharing the news of layoffs.

The live service game launched just two weeks ago after being revealed at The Game Awards.

Pop quiz: if a politician says that they don’t support what ICE is doing, but they constantly vote to give the agency more money and resist calls to abolish it, whose side are they on?

What matters more? Rhetoric, or actions? Lip service, or policy?

A MAGA freak in Texas murdered his own daughter in cold blood after they had an argument about Trump.

A grand jury in the Dallas area then *declined to indict him*, and he has not yet faced charges.

Seems like many Texans believe a man has the right to kill his own child for disobedience.
