My first name isn't really Lucrezia but I posted as Lucrezia Borgia on Twitter and the first few letters of that name are in my name...somewhere

Eisenhower wanted a society made up of Americans who were citizens first and soldiers second, and of soldiers who can behave in polite society, effectively offering a counterargument to the “warrior ethos” Pete Hegseth keeps pushing.
As Eisenhower Knew, Hegseth’s ‘Warrior Ethos’ Isn’t What Wins Wars
The U.S. defense secretary’s emphasis on warfighting ignores the other important factors that make a military cohesive and effective.

John Roberts' court in concert with the Trump administration has literally created a situation where there is no reason to reopen the government. They can either blow up the fillibuster and do it themselves, or it's not clear they'll ever get the votes unless they give Dems what they want.

Literally the Russ Vought impoundment thing has completely removed the GOP's ability to negotiate. There is no reason to negotiate.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

More judges speak to the press (the NYT) about what a disaster the Supreme Court (specifically the shadow docket) has been - “incredibly demoralizing & troubling”; a “judicial crisis”; a “slap in the face to district courts.” www.nytimes.com/2025/10/11/u...

Trump said he deserved a cut for brokering the TikTok deal, and at once there was agreement that his son Baron would have a top executive slot... though he hasn't asked for it, and has no apparent qualifications to hold it. This is how Trump 2.0 works. www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025...

There is a cost insulation mechanism, a defensive projection of the mind, that wants to believe: things may be bad, but those who really need or deserve it will be ok. The worst will be avoided. Surely there’s a program…

To that, I say: recall that the admin is trying to get rid of commissaries

I know Trump and his minions all have sneering contempt for kids with special needs, but trust me when I say that their parents will absolutely fucking destroy anyone who messes with the special education supports to which they are entitled by law.

Every federal department has a RIF plan. And back in February, they were all ordered to update them. RIFs can be legal, if they follow the plan. But based on the President’s comments yesterday, there is good reason to believe that (a) they aren’t, or (b) the plan itself is illegal. My bet is (a).

I think most people who are in favor of ending U.S. military aid to Israel are also in favor of ending our policy of randomly murdered Venezuelan fishermen, yeah.
rsouissivibes.bsky.social
The "I don't want my tax money murdering children and families in Palestine" folks.

Well, your tax money is being used to bomb fishing vessels under the false narrative of them being drug traffickers.

Those are fathers, brothers, sons, and uncles.

You mad about that too? Or nah?

The Trump administration has been spreading anti-vaccine propaganda for months. Tonight, Trump's physician announced he just received a flu shot and a COVID booster.

I really don't know what it means for a RIF to be "Democrat-oriented." Either they are targeting RIFs in Democrat house districts or they are targeting perceived Democrat employees. Regardless, sounds like an impermissible reason coupled with a First Amendment issue under Rutan v. Republican Party.

Q: How many layoffs have you authorized?

TRUMP: It'll be a lot. And it'll be Democrat-oriented.

Trump clearly decided that rapid identification of public health threats to the U.S. is something that only Democrats want.

Public health largely began in the military because once upon a time, leaders understood that disease is the greatest threat to militarily readiness. That’s over.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

I don’t know how medical professionals are going to be able to treat patients without the information they require from the CDC. The CDC is sometimes our only warning system about certain diseases.
