Simon & Kirby were creative partners.

Lee & Kirby were creative collaborators, but Lee was the boss.

That's not the same thing.

We have an entire class of Democratic "leadership" that has been told that it's dangerous and extreme to say this, and that does not understand that what Democrats want is for their leaders to articulate what they believe and why they believe it. That should not be as big an ask as it apparently is.
Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

This is how the death camps started. “We didn’t technically kill them, we just refused to give them any medical treatment for the thing that killed them.”
1. ICE has STOPPED PAYING for medical treatment for its 73,000 detainees

ICE has not paid its bills to 3rd party providers since OCTOBER and the situation will likely persist for MONTHS, a Popular Information investigation reveals

Meanwhile, critically ill ICE detainees are not receiving care

ICE got plenty of money when Chuck Schumer folded and now they're saying fuck you. What a shock. If anyone continues to fund the government at the end of the month they are Republican.

The right believes everyone thinks like them, but doesn't show it unless "given permission."

That's why all their accusations of their opposition are things they do themselves. They can't conceive of someone acting differently than they do.

“…nobody sane now thinks the answer to abuses at Dachau was to give the guards more training”
I wrote about how concentration camp regimes evolve and why it's not too late to stop this, even though we are deep in it now.

The correct response to Dachau was not better training for the guards.

I know people have an instinctual revulsion and hatred of religion and just kinda assume they're all Joel Osteen but small churches scattered in towns are actually community centers religion is supposed to be and this is going to foster a lot of backlash to ICE. No one likes this shit!

I really like the word "grok." I've used it for years. I really love Stranger in the Strange Land. I really love Heinlein books.

I hate that Elon Musk has co-opted it for CSAM and a wildly inaccurate online encyclopedia to the point where the word is going to mean the opposite of its definition.

The Newsom thing is because they think the pendulum effect will give the election to literally any Dem, which may well be true, so they want to make sure the nominee is as far-Right and ineffective as possible.

Literally everyone who even vaguely knew what a tariff was said this when they were introduced! You don’t need a team of economists to analyze the situation — no one who lives in reality was confused by this!
“Foreign exporters absorbed only 4% of last year’s U.S. tariff increases by lowering prices, while American consumers and importers absorbed 96%.

“Rather than acting as a tax on foreign producers, the tariffs functioned as a consumption tax on Americans.”

The working class is, firstly, mostly women. And secondly, mostly non-white.

Your class is about your relation to how wealth is produced. Not some dumb racist moniker.

This is not, to be clear, to paint them as people wrestling with some moral conundrum. The opposite really: I think it is damning to witness this violence and cling to some conviction about why it must remain a necessary capacity that is simply being “misused”

I’m going to keep hammering this point: the excesses of ICE we see now are entirely contiguous with our system of policing more broadly, and the reason that almost no politician wants to threaten real consequences for ICE agents is because it opens the door to making the same demands of the cops

One tough thing for people who get abducted by ICE is that they have no charges against them, so nobody from the agency is attached to their detainment. They just get held up, roughed up, and robbed of their valuables for no reason until ICE figures that out, and then they get dumped outside.
