I love that the answer to how can we get Marvel heroes to fight DC heroes was basically "The Marvel Universe and DC universe are brothers who just don't like each other"
30 years ago (yesterday) DC vs Marvel #1 went on sale.

Low on plot but high on pure fun, this series was a huge thing. DC and Marvel even threw the door open to let the readers decide the outcome of the battles.

It’s pure 90s fun. Even if Wolverine beating Lobo was rubbish.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

So, “Order of the Sinking Star” by Thekla was just announced, which takes several small free games (two of which are mine) and gives them a major graphical upgrade and mashes up their rulesets. I haven’t been very involved but it’s a great concept and looks cool.

Great thread by Damion that looks past the anger of the headline and at the market realities.

There are so many games now and the hardest challenge is getting people to know about yours.
I'm going to throw some cold water on the anger about this.

It is now considered ROUTINE for AAA games to spend as much on marketing as they do on Dev. Dev costs $200M? That's the starting point of conversation on how much to spend on marketing, PR and ads.

1/short thread
Report: The Game Awards trailers can cost devs up to $1 million

What he's saying: "we haven't been able to make a formula that is SUPERIOR in nutrition"

What he's not saying: we HAVE made formula that is pretty much the SAME, and doesn't include the time/sleep costs required by the breastfeeding parent.
RFK Jr: "All of the ingenuity of corporate America has not produced an infant formula that is superior in nutrition and all the qualities that we want to the infant formula that God made, which is the infant formula in a mother's breast."

Pichelli has since said this was taken out of context from an off-hand conversation she had at a busy con with someone who did not identify himself as a journalist and is twisting her words for click bait

Which is extra fun since this is the post that took off and doesn't even include a source link
Miles Morales co-creator Sara Pichelli says she does not get any royalties from the ‘Spider-Verse’ films, Insomniac games, or merch

A sentence beginning with "If I was a parent I would just..." is a sentence to be safely ignored.

"I know that literacy amongst young kids is falling post-covid and in a time where parents are struggling to work enough to make ends meet, but if I was a parent I would just read to my kid more"

There's suddenly a lot of people asking to be diagnosed with ADHD and/or Autism?

Man, if only there was some giant global event that stripped away structure and coping mechanisms that might explain why a bunch of people have realised in the last, say, five years that might explain all this.
The fact that many GPs don't believe people with mental health conditions will not be news to those of us with mental health conditions who have had to deal with these cunts.

Kudos on the BBC for continuing to manufacture consent to take away our rights and healthcare though.
'Life being stressful is not an illness' - GPs on mental health over-diagnosis
Hundreds of GPs in England tell the BBC they are also worried about a lack of help for patients.

If more blockbusters were this creatively audacious and weird, I'd wager the industry would be in a healthier place.

I grow weary of the constant "no one likes / remember these movies" when the first two are the first and third highest grossing movies of all time. People go and see them, clearly.

I’ve sometimes fallen into the trap of thinking that complementing a creative person for their work is less sophisticated or desired than discussion or debate about it but very often the best thing you can say to them is hell yeah and that doesn’t make you dumb it just makes you nice

A famous guy I was a fan of sent an email during the pandemic just being like "hey I like your show, great job" and it meant a ton to me. So ever since I've tried to reach out whenever I really like something and just tell the people who made it "I really like this, thanks for making it!"

As I'm now on the parent side of the Christmas magic divide, I've been looking at ways to retain some of magic for us.

Here's what has worked so far:

- Presents/cards sorted in November. Ideally wrapped. Then December is significantly more chill
- Set time aside to meet with friends for dinner
Because you're an adult you fucking muppet. You gotta pay the magic forward.
