It would take a two-word amendment to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 to subject ICE agents and other federal law enforcement officers to the same liability for constitutional violations that local and state officers currently face.

If Congress actually cared about what it's seeing, it could pass that overnight.

yeah this isn't tactical moderation lol we've seen this schtick before
Q: Is it your posture to put restrictions on ICE as a condition for funding DHS?

JEFFRIES: Renee Good should be alive. There was no justification. There are common sense measures that need to put in place so ICE can conduct itself in manner at least consistent w/ every other law enforcement agency

there's going to be a temptation to say that she had this coming but the reality is that this is about a billionaire misogynist pedophile eugenicist asserting himself over a woman and the products of her reproductive labor to rob her of child by using the courts he has contracted into his service.

weird reply considering I said none of those things and simply made an obviously true observation that dems have a history of offering half measures to their base not as a prelude to more radical action but instead as a way to mollify angry activists and then move on.
“Hi! No effort is good enough unless it fits exactly my particular opinion of what exactly should happen, and if it’s not I will refuse to participate in, or, do my best to stymie, those efforts”

This is the stuff of political paralysis and nihilism. This is the same attitude that lost us 2024
it's true in an abstract sense that calls for better ICE training or modest reform could be a prelude to more radical action, just like, eg, a blue ribbon bipartisan commission on SCOTUS reform could be a prelude to a robust and partisan court reform agenda. BUT

the thing about “ICE needs training” is that Jonathan Ross was a ten year DHS vet and a firearms instructor

he’s the kind of guy they get training from

the whole institution is rotten, throw it out
Democrats officially going all in on the mealy mouthed “ICE needs training” narrative.

No. ABOLISH ICE.
WARNER: It used to take 5 to 6 months to get trained. They've now lowered the training period to 47 days. Why 47 days? Because Donald Trump's the 47th president. Tell me that's a rational approach

KERNEN: I'm not taking that bait

WARNER: Joe! You can't pick your facts

LOL LMAO
Kent Syverud, chancellor of Syracuse University, says pro-Hamas, anti-Israel protests on his campus were encouraged and likely orchestrated by Iran.
Syverud said the protests "did not have the involvement of very many, if any, of our own students."

lmao buckle up
A string of hate crimes at Syracuse University @syracuseu.bsky.social prompted national attention and calls for reform.

Have been thinking about the stakes of this fight, about what happens if we lose

Gonna write about this at greater length later, but like..... if we lose this very specific fight, we cross a HUGE portion of the space between our society and Nazi Germany in a single bound
Hearing many stories now of ICE going to the homes of observers and activists to menace them.

I agree. I think if you want to use training as a rhetorical device to destroy ICE as an agency, then you need to start hammering on the fact that Ross was a trainer, and focus on how ICE is **Incapable of training** its officers.

FISH

FAMILY

FREEDOM
My name is Mary Peltola, and I'm running for U.S. Senate to fight for fish, family, and freedom – and that begins with fixing the rigged system in DC that’s shutting down Alaska.

We need systemic change if we're going to lower costs, save our fisheries, and fill our homes with abundance again.

Death Toll in Iran May Already Be in the Thousands
No precise toll can be ascertained, but a group estimates that protester deaths may have reached 6,000 through Saturday.

putting this into the public record: This is the third time I've seen a witness recounting Ice trying to silence observers by citing the death of Renee Good as a warning to us all: 'that's why this lesbian bitch is dead'
Patty, a woman observer in Minneapolis, was abducted from a car by federal agents today. She was released and talked about her experience in custody.

An agent said, "You guys gotta stop obstructing us. That's why that lesbian bitch is dead."

yeah uh I know deploying the national guard against this is insta-cool zone but....I really fail to see an alternative.
ICE totaled this car, abducted a woman, and then left it in the middle of Snelling Avenue, one of the busiest streets in the Twin Cities.

This isn’t law and order, this state sanctioned terrorism. It’s fucking disgusting.

@slotkin.senate.gov - is this how “law enforcement” works?

Ye empty, frayed fart-ridden chair of an enabler.
There is a lot in this interview. Quoting to amplify specifically that at the end they report the ICE agents saying, “Have you not learned? This is why we killed that lesbian bitch.”

ICE agents appear now to approve of the killing of Renee Good as an act of terrorism committed by them collectively
In this clip from a longer interview, she says while she was in detention, agents called Renee Good a “lesbian b*tch.”

This video belongs to @statuscoupnews.bsky.social and I’ll take it down if they want me to.
