The Labour Party is literally in government right now. They have a clear majority and could legislate to ensure trans folks are treated according to their gender, and ensure equality law does not fix people to their sex assigned at birth. They actively choose not to — it’s institutional transphobia.

The people responsible for these practices at this scale were, frankly, extremely lucky that LGBTQ+ people were willing to accept it stopping and not the brutal revenge they'd have been justified in taking.

The Labour government can bring section 14 of the Equality Act into force and use the Henry VIII power therein to reverse the Supreme Court’s decision literally within a matter of hours.

But Keir Starmer is a polite bigot who cynically invokes Brianna Ghey’s name while betraying her.

Hey medievalists, question:

So I once, on the bird site, got someone mad at me because I referred to "Anglo Saxon literature" as opposed to "Old English literature." The claim was that these people never called themselves Angles and Saxons, and that the usage was a later Euro-nationalist thing. BUT

Streeting using the same tactics that worked so well against trans kids on a different community 🧵👇
Considering Streeting's well stated belief autism, ADHD etc, along with mental health issues, are "overdiagnosed", I won't hold my breath for this doing anything other than being used to cut support, along with opportunities for diagnosis, for people who need it. #r4today

Speaking as the president of an NGO and as a trans woman: when orgs decide to abandon a group, to sacrifice them, it is not that group’s job to “understand how hard it would have been to fight.”

If trans people hope to survive, it is our job to make that abandonment costly as hell.

Make them hurt.

Not gonna lie lads, it’s fucking bleak over here.

Trans people can’t fight this on their own, cis women need to start leaving and boycotting these organisations that exclude trans women.

I go where my trans partner goes, if she can’t go I don’t go. We all have to do this.

@reactiveashley.bsky.social may correct me, but I believe all it needs is the Minister to sign into law a currently dormant clause in EqA 2010.

The judiciary interprets law: governments make it. The Govt can at any time legislate so that the SCJ no longer applies.

Important to remember;

The Trans Girl Guides ban is only happening because

*Starmer*

wants it to happen.

Starmer is harming children.
Let’s be clear about who is responsible for trans girls being excluded from the Guides.

Keir Starmer
100%

He could have overturned the injustice of the flawed Supreme Court any time, but CHOSE not to. So he is responsible for these girls being harmed. There’s a word for adults who harm children.

Reactionary centrists are getting everything they wanted out of the UK's Labour party, a purge of trans people from society, a crackdown on immigration, austerity measures on social safety net programs. It's only made Reform more popular and decimated Labour's support.

Exactly.

If you decide to abandon or sacrifice trans people, our job is to make that decision HURT.

We must create consequences, as a matter of simple survival.
I disagree. There need to be consequences for cowardice in moments like these if you want to prevent more defections.
