The Labour Party is literally in government right now. They have a clear majority and could legislate to ensure trans folks are treated according to their gender, and ensure equality law does not fix people to their sex assigned at birth. They actively choose not to — it’s institutional transphobia.

The Labour Party is literally in government right now. They have a clear majority and could legislate to ensure trans folks are treated according to their gender, and ensure equality law does not fix people to their sex assigned at birth. The people responsible for these practices at this scale were, frankly, extremely lucky that LGBTQ+ people were willing to accept it stopping and not the brutal revenge they'd have been justified in taking.

Speaking as the president of an NGO and as a trans woman: when orgs decide to abandon a group, to sacrifice them, it is not that group’s job to “understand how hard it would have been to fight.”

The judiciary interprets law: governments make it. The Govt can at any time legislate so that the SCJ no longer applies.
