Money can buy happiness. *Amassing* money won't bring happiness.

If you had Elon's money, and gave it all away except for a few million, enough to do as you pleased, I think that would buy happiness for you and many others. The thing about buying that billionaires forget is, you have to spend.
it’s genuinely reassuring to me that this is the most miserable and paranoid person in the entire world

I feel obliged to remind everyone that there are plenty of countries where higher education is either completely free or cost a token amount of tuition money and that many of these countries offer top notch teaching and research. It’s a political choice.

I'd like to add that like in all industries, when we stop understanding how our tools work, we become entirely dependent on the corporate entities that own the mold. We are trading the ability to build and repair for the convenience of being permanent tenants in someone else's infrastructure/subs.
Vibe coding is working as expected: it'll kill the open-source, secure, and ideologically maintained alternatives to make sure you have to pay the oligarchs to do anything at all, and they can control what you're allowed to make.

the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

I keep thinking “my god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength
you don't become a martyr because you were a saint, you become a saint because you were martyred
I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

"I am a children's entertainer who specializes in face painting," writes a woman now in hiding from the federal government for witnessing a state-sanctioned street execution
You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

The pain and the outrage is correct and just and I'm glad everyone can see and understand it here, and this is also already what BLM was, if you argued for training, police reform or body cams instead of abolition this is what you sounded like, this is why people were so mad at you

There is a lot in this interview. Quoting to amplify specifically that at the end they report the ICE agents saying, “Have you not learned? This is why we killed that lesbian bitch.”

ICE agents appear now to approve of the killing of Renee Good as an act of terrorism committed by them collectively
In this clip from a longer interview, she says while she was in detention, agents called Renee Good a “lesbian b*tch.”

This video belongs to @statuscoupnews.bsky.social and I’ll take it down if they want me to.

The New York Times, while responsible for tons of hurtful coverage about trans people, did not run the "transgender ideology on bullets" story. The Wall Street Journal did, and in fact NYT actually came out and said that it wasn't confirmed, contradicting the WSJ story
A reminder that the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal ran an article with the intent to harm and damage the trans community with no evidence and this is not even the first time. Both of these platforms have been utilized in Supreme Court cases to directly harm trans people.
