It’s possible for two things to be true, and I believe they are:

1. Many terrible things have happened and will continue to, bc a razor-thin majority of voters chose an authoritarian racist.

2. The hoped-for authoritarian consolidation will almost surely fail, even if scars will be long-lasting.

Doomerism in January was cowardly preemptive surrender, but done at a time when the future was unknown.

Doomerism in December is still cowardly preemptive surrender, but now also requires ignoring all the non-doomer things that have happened over the year.
I’m not gonna dunk on some small depressed account, but one reply I get to this is “you think there’s gonna be elections/Trump will listen to judges??” And I wonder how people haven’t noticed that Garcia is home and free and Republicans got crushed in elections this year
We Are Going to Win
Trump's revolution will fail, but we still have a long and painful road ahead of us.

👇🎯 Still waiting for the very first “enthusiastic Black Biden voters in Philly and Atlanta diners” story from 2021.

No one showed up in Madison at any point in the last decade to write the story about disenfranchised liberal voters due to the worst gerrymandering in the country, either.
"Guy in a diner" story, Dec 2025 edition.

Somehow I've missed the profiles of people in Nashville / Austin / Houston / Kansas City MO / Charlotte / etc who have been gerrymandered out of "fair" representation.
They Wanted a Conservative State. They Might Get a Democratic Representative Instead.

more confirmation that lurking clearly behind this idea of the “heritage american” is a straightforward contempt for the actual history and tradition of this country, such that vermeule has to hallucinate a framework to justify his desire to jettison the clear meaning of the 14th amendment
I had missed this latest delirium by Adrian Vermeule on birthright citizenship

'Common law?! NAH, it's the Roman law of adoption that should govern the interpretation of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution!'

the promise of America, to Miller, is that anyone might transcend the circumstances of their ancestry to become a Nazi
Relatedly, we obtained an unpublished history of Stephen Miller's ancestors' immigration to the US, written by his grandmother. People like them were attacked in terms very similar to the ones Miller and MAGA use about today's immigrants:

DOJ briefly uploaded this letter from Jeff Epstein to serial child molester Larry Nassar:

"Our president shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to 'grab snatch,' whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system."

Throwing the election to a pedophile fascist because you didn’t want to appear “political” is an encapsulation of the Democratic Party in the 21st century
The Biden DOJ had a perfectly legal avenue to release this to the public—a response to a FOIA request. They may have even been legally obligated to produce it in response to the FOIA request. And they decided not to, to protect Donald Trump’s reputation? What?
Found the Associated Press article where the existence of this letter was first disclosed two years ago, in response to a FOIA request

It's definitely real

“We need to be able to get the principals on the record” doesn’t apply to Levi’s, Smith College or Washington University.

What’s more troubling is that Weiss apparently didn’t even try to get the other side. If she had and they refused to talk, that’d be in the stories

Then there’s the Smith College employee who got Weiss to run her first-person piece claiming she was a victim of anti-white racism. Weiss herself wrote an intro and provided a GoFundMe link.

No evidence they reached out to Smith or co-workers.

She made many serious allegations. There was no evidence that they tried to contact the center, or the woman’s colleagues.
