Please for the love of god call your reps and tell them to vote no to KOSA and other bad internet bills otherwise we lose everything we have
You need to do it now, today is the day
Congress is attempting to fast track KOSA and more than a dozen bills that would restrict internet access, censor speech and increase surveillance under the guise of protecting children.

Committee hearings begin tomorrow.
Lawmakers to consider 19 bills for childproofing the internet
KOSA is back, along with more than a dozen other bills that will erode free speech and privacy in the name of protecting kids.

If they think our concerns over free speech is a "farce", that'd make the people pushing these bills un-American, don't you think? #stopageverification #stoponlineidchecks

Call the Energy and Commerce majority number and demand these bills go through more and detailed hearings because they cannot be rammed through with such little thought

(202) 225-3641
wants this to be the last meeting on this matter before they turn bills into laws.

I remember when millennials used to get this shit. IF YOU WANT FOLKS TO SPEND MORE, THEY NEED TO MAKE MORE.
If you want people to spend more, pay them more.

This is also good advice for authors. Don't let the worse interpretation of your work stop you from making it. Think of the people who will see the best in your work.

Also I think learning the skill of saying "I don't have an opinion on it, but didn't want to watch it" is important too.

• “I didn’t watch it, but TikTok told me it’s problematic.”
• “I didn’t read it, but here’s my take based on screenshots.”
• “I didn’t follow the narrative, but I saw a gifset and that’s enough.”
• “I don’t understand the plot, therefore the writing is bad.”

Some people are very good at writing sex and some people are good at believing that they are good at writing sex, the first is a tremendously impressive skill and the second is what makes for deeply uncomfortable author presentations at science fiction conventions
There's nothing wrong with literary porn, but some of the crap those guys wrote was "Have you actuallly ever HAD sex?"

Language isn't even the same as information. It may be confused with it because information materializes through language. LLMs work in the level of what Saussure called "signifier"; the connection between that and the "signified" only happens in the mind of a person with relevant repertoire.
Cutting-edge research shows language is not the same as intelligence. The entire AI bubble is built on ignoring it.

Going to be a pretty rough and bare Thanksgiving, but I don't feel okay asking for any kind of help when 1.) I have a lot lately, and 2.) others need it far more than me.

I get to make Funeral Potatoes, so something's a win in there.

Look I'm just gonna say it. Father Figure is the best track on that album and it's not even close.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

i think if you want to have those disgusting LED headlights on your car, you should have to do a test where they blast you point blank with your own headlights and then you have 15 seconds to successfully complete some sort of vision-based task, and if you can't do it they push your car off a cliff
