This happened under Biden.

I need y’all to stop pretending like this is just a Team Red issue.
Imagine still believing that America is the land of the free when they’re doing this to a journalist at a press conference

Not enough. Not nearly enough. They have a chance to get rid of the whole agency now and get rid of Noem.

These milquetoast requirements are bullshit and offer huge loopholes that Miller et al with keep walking right on through.

CALL YOUR REPS. Demand nothing less than the abolishment of ICE.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

A Dem Senator’s Harsh Takedown of Trump Hits Home: “Breaking Point”
As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

For any elected official who needs to hear this, I impart a lesson learned from the NFL:

When the other team is tired and on the back foot, you don’t call a timeout so they can catch their breath. You grind their fucking face into the dirt until the final whistle blows and you’ve won the game.

they've spent their entire lives deluding themselves into the belief that police violence is a result of individual actions/failures (both on the side of the victim and the perpetrator) as opposed to any systemic issues

abolition pushes them to acknowledge systemic failure & their own complicity
Question for the crowd:

Why do you think moderates, liberals, and other folks are scared or have an aversion to the word “abolish”?

that's not how anything works they're lying and destroying evidence hope that helps
And what is happening inside ICE detention centers? 404 Media also learned that the federal government claimed that the day after it was sued for allegedly abusing detainees at an ICE detention center, a “system crash” deleted nearly two weeks of surveillance footage from inside the facility.
ICE Says Critical Evidence In Abuse Case Was Lost In 'System Crash' a Day After It Was Sued
The government also said "we don't have resources" to retain all footage and that plaintiffs could supply "endless hard drives that we could save things to."

Every American Democratic nominee for President since 1952 has stood steadfastly against universal healthcare and taken actions in whatever offices they held, to oppose universal healthcare. The idea there has ever been a Democratic attempt at universality is frankly crackpot, pay it no heed.
Because we're all trapped in the event horizon of the 2016 primary we have to pretend that "universal healthcare", something that every Democratic administration has worked to expand since Truman, is something that "liberalism" has fought against, instead of a bog-standard part of the platform.

Centrists are approaching this from a "yeah, we might have been wrong, but it's not like we were right wingers."

You enabled right wing policy. You enabled right wing power. And you did it while silencing everyone to your left.

Atonement would be a great starting point.

I would say that if people pointing out that they've been saying this all along and insisting you reflect on why you didn't listen before is going to make you regress on your views or resent those people you ostensibly agree with now, you didn't really change your opinion in a meaningful way.

Minneapolis, MN -

Many many more agents filing into the area around the hotel. Minneapolis PD announcing everyone is under arrest, telling them to sit down with their hands up. An ad hoc journalist squad being told to go further down the street. Chemicals irritant deployed in the road.

Yes. We cannot let cowardice setup 'trump but worse'.
This tells me that Jeffries has no interest in enforcing our constitution and our laws. Impeaching Trump is not a strategy, it’s not a poll point, it’s JUSTICE. It’s what the constitution demands! If they can’t manage to care about that we will just be sleepwalking until the next tyrant.
This guy sucks. Why should we ever vote for the democrats then?

ICE know that they have passed the point of no return.

Either they will succeed in establishing a totalitarian police state or there will be no escaping the reckoning for what they've done.

We—too—are headed for one of those two futures.

Are you acting accordingly yet?

The people tasked with doing arrests are on the side of the shooters. There is no one coming.

We need leaders on the left to talk about extrajudicial violence, and how if they can do it, we can and will as well. Talk about jury nullification.

We need Malcolms too, not just MLKs.
ICE just gunned down ANOTHER person, beating a man half to death before shooting him at point blank range. What the fuck are we doing?

ARREST ICE NOW. PROSECUTE ICE NOW.

I will not rest until every single one of these murderers is held accountable to the communities they terrorize.
