Being trans disqualified you from being involved or having any say at all in the nyt coverage of trans people. That was true 5 years ago, and it’s true today.

It’s the definition of prejudice.
Ever wonder why the New York Times abandoned balance and impartiality to lead an old-fashioned newspaper crusade against trans equal rights?

In one of our most read stories for the year, @evanurquhart.bsky.social took readers behind the scenes at NYT.

Today is Repeal Day, the date the 21st Amendment was passed to repeal the 18th, Prohibition.

It took over a decade to repeal, and it gives me hope that other laws which in their time feel insurmountable will eventually be consigned to history's dustbin.

he knows exactly what this disease does, he spent much of his life fighting against it, and he knew exactly what RFK was when he voted for him

Grappling with the Torah and Talmud and thousands of years of other, very learned Jews grappling with the Torah, I am struck by the way Jews have consistently said "wait, this is cruel, G-d must not have meant this how it sounded" and argued and reasoned things to a more loving position.

do you think Catholicism doesn't do this my guy
I guess coming from Catholicism it's hard to wrap my head around this, like... if you're going to engage in motivated reasoning to change the text to what you want it to mean, why even have God?

(Incidentally I am also no longer Catholic because that was my answer)

This affects me and my crew directly. Fewer drivers means fewer trucks, which means bigger trucks. Instead of a 1,500-piece truck every night you get two 2,000-piece trucks and two no-truck nights every week -- meaning fewer hours, but much harder work in the fewer hours you get. Not sustainable.
Ok people like when I talk about my job, modern logistics work for food manufacturing,

And here’s a fun one: there’s already a shortage of truck drivers and it’s about to get very bad, this will lead to a lot more inflation

The way anti-vaxxers and conservatives have carelessly thrown away children’s lives has unironically made me feel we should reclaim the “pro-life” label and start yelling at these people for killing kids

Both use the ratchet. Tell your friends. Every turn of the ratchet depends on the idea thousands of doctors and researchers are LYING but there’s a ‘secret underground’ of doctors (it’s a tiny group, usually paid for their work) who has the ‘real truth.’ They use fear to draw people in.
one of many parallels between anti-vaxxers & those who oppose gender-affirming care: they start by pretending they have a very specific concern (MMR vaccine, puberty blockers, etc), but once given any sway or say on the matter, they quickly strive to eliminate all of it

Hey, do my fellow GenXers remember how a lot of our childhood books had plotlines about a boy who was flunking school and was angry for no reason, and the parents sent him to live on his uncle's farm for the summer where he learned Important Life Lessons from the animals?

Yeah, that kid had autism.

Many old people NEED to work and to feel useful. When you put older people out to pasture, you hasten their end.

Or maybe that's what "younger" people want to happen?
