The 80s are a wild time because people remember it as an era when people weren't easily offended by anything and yet it was also a time when everyone believed Satanic cults were stealing kids, the Japanese were about to invade and AIDS was divine justice for gay people.
It is 1985. A bunch of conservative Christians with concerning media habits are alleging malfeasance at local daycares.

It is 2025. A bunch of conservative Christians with concerning media habits are alleging malfeasance at local daycares.
Actual news followed up and it turns out these are actual day care centers with kids enrolled in them.

This is a remarkable stat.
Since 2018, the Atlanta Falcons are 53-78 (.405) in games played with playoff eligibility, and 11-4 (.733) in games played after being mathematically eliminated.
HOW DID THIS TEAM LOSE TO THE JETS

Daniel Day Louis can make a movie about a haute couture dressmaker in 1950s London but Deuce Bigalow only got one sequel. Tell me how that makes sense. Politics is why.

The Chargers having their entire playoff trajectory shifted by two missed kicks, a horrible drop by a tight end, and a terribly-timed penalty is a greatest hits collection

My dream is to be a college football coach and make 15 million dollars a year to yell at 19 year olds that they need to take the Bisquick Pancake & Baking Mix Bowl more seriously. My wife has a severe haircut, I cheat on her with several women named “Applebee’s Tami”

The Olivia Nuzzi story and the Bari Weiss at CBS story are the same story, which is that the upper echelons of legacy media are absolutely rife with people who worship power and don't feel burdened by any sense of responsibility to their profession or the public.

The faction of the the left that lives for harassment is just slamming Matt for this, but he’s correct and this has been considered for years a major cause of the recent homelessness spike. Watching people maliciously misread his very short tweet and call him a “Nazi” is something else.
Homelessness increased primarily because of immigration (lots of people came to the US without setting up housing).

Underrated Dan Quinn moment last night: He called a timeout after the 2-minute warning, making the Eagles’ offense run more plays, presumably in response to their two-point conversion.

Jer’Zhan Newton then got hurt on the next play and he stopped calling timeouts, lol.

Not to harp on it but there really is no winning for football analytics in mainstream media circles because analytically based decisions are totally ignored when they work - attributed instead to a coach's manliness - and dubbed a failure when the right choice doesn't lead to the desired outcome.
4th down decision = successful

"Masterful Gambit! Balls of steel!"

4th down decision ≠ successful

"Why did he do that? Must have been analytics"

People like this always say "you'll wish you had that field goal at the end of the game" but they never say "sure, the team went for it on fourth down and scored but it would have been better if they had lost 23-20 instead of winning 24-23."
