We are in a bad place, but we have the tools and the opportunity and the courage to find our way out.

A year ago, I feared that would not be the case.

We still have to DO it, of course.

But now, I have faith and belief that there's a path.

#MASSACHUSETTS people! The #HealthConnector website says I'm disenrolled, BUT I AM NOT, and you probably aren't either. The very nice person I spoke to on the phone says they've been getting a lot of calls about it. So call to be sure, but also try not to panic.

And (this is the hard part for me) when you are making stuff that isn't shit, but isn't good... don't stop... don't slow down.

Drive the fuck on. You will get past that plateau.
Please don't let the fear of not doing something well stop you from trying it for the first time. Write a messy story. Paint a crappy flower. Whittle the worst wooden bear of all time.

I don't know how this would work, but we need a new cancel culture for cynicism. The most powerful tool in the authoritarian's box is the ability to convince people that nothing matters.

Today is the 70th anniversary of Rosa Parks' arrest. Six myths: 1) She wasn't old or tired. 42 years old that day, she had a "life history of being rebellious" & had spent two decades helping to turn the Montgomery NAACP into a more activist branch alongside ED Nixon and Johnnie Carr.

Thinking about why I always skip past Google’s AI summaries, and it goes kind of like this:
- the info is convenient, but it might be wrong
- to confirm the info, the summary has links to sources.
- but if I need to check the sources, why not just give me the links in the first place?

This is a legitimate scientific revolution in meteorology.

Also, to be clear, these models are not the AI LLMs that most people are familiar with. They are machine learning algorithms trained on observations (actually reanalysis).

My grandmother used to be a fabulous knitter. She made me a cardigan circa 2006. I hadn’t been able to find it since maybe 2019 and have mourned it since, assuming I’d left it in public somewhere.

I found it today when cleaning out a room corner and I’m so happy

Just in case anyone needs a wok.
If you’re in the market for a very inexpensive but high quality wok, this is my favorite wok. Highly recommend.
This one is fantastic. I have it and got one for my dad too who struggled through a bunch of woks he hated LOL. It’s super light. Only catch is you have to season it but that’s very easy and it has instructions. I recommend the biggest size you’ll want room to toss things around
