I do wish people would get off FIFA's back about the World Cup Final tickets costing at least £3000. Like boiled frogs, we're inured to modern-day house prices. Looking at 1980 document of my uncle, a bank porter, where on a salary of €2,500 a year, he had a house worth €8,000. That house adjusted for inflation should be worth €35,000. A similar one on the same crescent sold last year for €900K.

Can’t stop thinking about Marcus Fakana - stuck in jail in Dubai for a holiday romance. The absolutely horrible decision by the girl’s mother to report him to the police. The sense that racism and classism are at play - if he had been a white middle class boy I suspect things would be different.
