Since we're all fucking rehashing the fastest impeachment in the history of the United States again, let me remind everyone:

There is not a single goddamned thing Nancy Pelosi could have done to make Mitch McConnell not be Mitch McConnell.

I advise you never to make these. Or at the very least go into making them with your eyes wide open. Because they are basically the biscuit equivalent of crack.
Parmesan shortbreads are the perfect accompaniment to any festive fizz you may be uncorking to celebrate the New Year. They’re #RecipeOfTheDay now in case you want a get a head start on them, but they’re neither difficult nor time-consuming to make. www.nigella.com/recipes/parm...
Parmesan Shortbreads
This is an Italian-inspired recipe that comes to me from Australia via Brazil. To explain: a Brazilian friend, and the best cook I know, Helio Fenerich made it for me, and I had to keep (rudely) askin...

Hardly new or surprising at this point, but it's still so crazy how the US president goes to bat for Russia, aping the Russian government's propaganda, lying to the world on a Russian dictator's behalf, and trying to help Russian military aggression succeed against a US-partnered European democracy.
Trump: "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. It sounds a little strange but President Putin was very generous in his feeling toward Ukraine succeeding, including supplying energy, electricity and other things at very low prices."

A reminder: Russia doesn’t want/need Donbas; it isn’t historically/ethnically special. Ru wants all of Ukraine. Receiving the heavily fortified Donbas towns it couldn’t conquer for 11+ yrs on a silver platter from Trump would allow Ru an easier 2nd march on Kyiv. That’s what Pu is focusing on now.

Setting aside the obvious here, the reason Russia supplies low cost energy to neighbours is to prevent the emergence of alternatives and to create dependencies they can later exploit.

It's harder to push back on the demands of a country that can switch off your factories and winter heating.

It's idiotic to ask him these things while his mind is freshly full of Russian propaganda. Ru wants to occupy all of Ukraine, destroy everything Ukrainian, absorb, russify, and rebuild as Ru. That's what they're attempting to do in the occupied territories. It's genocidal intent, not good will.

think that despite the unsavory/brutal method, it's ultimately acceptable or irrelevant that Ukraine is reincorporated into the "russian world" support "peace through surrender". My impression is that a chunk of Western scholars of russian history, politics, culture are in the latter category.

This is such a smarmy take. Nobody hates charity, oh my god!

Campaign funds are for campaigning. They have a dedicated purpose. And call to action for campaigns to use their limited funds for a very unmanageable and inefficient charity operation is completely reasonable to question.
the problem with dedicating campaign funds toward charitable endeavors is what if you lose and then all you’ve done is helped people in need in your community?

How dare that monster Joe Biden predict that donald trump will engage in vindictive and frivolous prosecution of his political punching bags
Joe Biden's decision to pardon Hunter Biden is not only selfish: It forces Democrats to take their focus off of Trump's wholly unqualified nominations to have to either defend or denounce his decision. It's part of a pattern of selfishness by Joe Biden.

I’m not surprised that Biden pardoned Hunter. It fits a disappointing pattern

This is extremely dumb for a variety of reasons but perhaps the most obvious is that the Romans didn't apply their adoption law to grants of citizenship.

I cannot communicate how basic an error he is making here. Staggeringly elementary, a thing you learn in Roman Civ 101.
I had missed this latest delirium by Adrian Vermeule on birthright citizenship

'Common law?! NAH, it's the Roman law of adoption that should govern the interpretation of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution!'
