Joe Rogan calling ICE the gestapo is probably a sign of what other morons are starting to figure out. It only took a guy shooting a woman in the face on video and calling her a fucking bitch

I just found out last night that the $50k enrollment bonus only pays out after 5 years of service, and reader, the laugh I let out when I read that woke the dog from across the house. These absolute fucking grapes aren't seeing a dime of that money. No way they can ride out 5 years of this job.
ICE recruitment is going well.

It's actually kind of striking how rapidly the ads on ostensibly respectable platforms have changed in the last 12–18 months. I've been getting penis enlargement scams and pyramid schemes that don't even bother to pretend to be otherwise on YouTube. (1/2)

Folks are really out there arguing that generative AI represents the death of truth in advertising like we haven't spent decades watching TV commercials pour motor oil on pancakes because real syrup doesn't look like what people expect syrup to look like.

New: Trio of Dem senators urge Apple and Google to enforce their own terms of service and ban X, Grok apps for their flood of nonconsensual sexual imagery.

I've repeatedly asked both Apple and Google about this for three days. They're completely silent, seemingly hoping the question just goes away.
Senators urged Apple and Google to remove X and Grok from app stores over sexual deepfakes
“Turning a blind eye to X’s egregious behavior would make a mockery of your moderation practices,” three Democratic senators wrote to Apple’s and Google’s CEOs.

pretty easy to go into the App Store and report Twitter for pornography targeting minors, and I suggest everyone do it!

The Advocate has the story - "they killed my wife," Good's spouse says. "We have a six year old in school," Good's spouse says.

Let us avoid building a head of steam behind a narrative to allow a grandparent to come and seize the child of a queer couple.
Distraught woman says ICE killed her wife in video after deadly Minneapolis shooting
“They killed my wife,” the distraught woman says, adding, “They shot her in the head.”

Visited the Disney studio during their outdoor holiday market a few weeks back and they had some props from Muppet Christmas Carol, including Miss Piggy’s Emily Cratchit costume. Looking at it up close, I never noticed this amazing tiny froggie brooch in the film.

Please, I am begging you, do not tell AI to translate for you. Do not just use a translate button on languages you can't read. Please ask a human being to help you. Machine translations are often close enough on a sentence level but that is NOT good enough for anything you take seriously.
"Use AI for translations"

Hey, who was doing translations before? How did we train AI to do translations? Who was the author of the translations that were fed into AI?

Ah, I see, another "ethical" use.

My no-fun-at-parties take is that "christmas is a secular holiday" is an uncomfortable way of assuring me that christianity is the status quo and everything outside of that is an aberration. Sorry! It's still a christian holiday!! Just because you're an atheist doesn't make it secular!

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anything with a larger disconnect between the executive class and the general public than AI - there have been cases where executives want to push something they know is unpopular, but on AI it's like the backlash hasn't penetrated their bubble at all
What gets me about executives at movie/videogame studios being taken aback at consumer backlash to AI is that they seem genuinely surprised that we like the human beings that make the things that we like

I'm old enough to remember when they started playing commercials before trailers in theaters. People older than me were offended by it, I didn't think it was a big deal, but I should have listened. We should have held the line. I should have listened.
